Hi everyone, I am planning on buying a CST 7" lift for my 4x4. I already have the off road package and was wondering if I can use the Rancho shocks that are already on the truck, or do I need to get the Fox coilovers? I think the CST lift kit comes with some chingasas so you can keep the front shocks, but I'm not sure. I'm new to trucks and to titans. I used to be a VW racer guy with the lowering kits and mods. Tr4ying to grow out of that and I'm still learning the truck lingo and mods. I was also wondering, I would like to get 20" rims, any ideas on tires? Brands and sizes.
I looked through all the posts but didn't really find what I was looking for. Thanks.

welcome to the boards, and congrats on the truck. being that i'm just as new to the truck world, i'll answer to the best of my abilities.
1. You can use the rancho shocks, as the CST kit utilizes a spacer to allow the use of the stock coilovers. However, I was told that the Fox coilovers tend to sag or have broken bolts, leading to headaches in the future. If you were to invest in a set of aftermarket coilovers, Donahoe Racing, Sway-A-Way, or Radflo coilovers are the ones that seem to be getting tons of good reviews. Personally, I have Radflos, and although they are a bit pricey, they are well worth the money. My buddy has Donahoes, and he loves them.
2. Rims: There are a lot of people here running 20" wheels on 35" tires, while a lot of others are running 17 or 18" wheels w/ the same size tires. All it comes down to is preference. I can tell you that backspacing is vital, as incorrect backspacing may lead to tires that don't fit, or will require some trimming to fit. To my understanding, backspacing of more than 4.5" tends to require trimming to fit a 35" tire. Another thing to keep in mind is that different manufacturers run different sizes (i.e. a 35" tire from Nitto has a larger diameter than a 35" tire from Kumho).
That being said, I am a noobie to this, and these are things i learned off the website. There are others way more knowledgable than i am. However, your best resource would be Greg (PreRunner Greg). He did all the work on my truck, and is very patient with answering questions. check out his website at www.prgproducts.com and go from there. Let him know what you want, and he will give you straightforward and honest answers.
I had BF Goodrich MT's on my toyota ( 33 x12.50's) 3 years strong on that truck with no issues and decent tread left. (light weight truck with big truck tires)
My friend has had the **** Cepeck AT/MT tires and those have been wearing very well on his GMC 1500...and hes pretty hard on his trucks.
I think people in this forum like the BFG AT's & Bridgestone Duelers.
ON a side note: I'm eyeing that same lift. Its reviewed as a very quality lift. Do you have any idea on when you were planning on buying it? Maybe we can get a small forum deal with one of the sponsors to buy a few of em.

Would I have to use the rear shocks that come with the kit too? I'm guessing there are no spacers for the rear so they need to be longer shocks. How about my stock tires and rims? Would it look funny if I kept the stock off road package 17" rims and tries? I'm sure it would, so any recomendations for tires sizes on 20" rims?
to be honest, i believe you can use the shocks that come with the kit. But i personally would upgrade to PRG bilsteins or radflos at that point.
also, you can use your stock rims if you like their look, or don't have money for a new set of rims. But it may look a little weird, w/ the truck sitting high on some stockies. a lot of people have kept their stock rims and bought 35" tires after lifting it.
I forget the TT handle for the PRG guy...I think pre runner something.
Could we get him or one of the other vendors a heads up for a forum purchase for the 7" CST lift?
It's PreRunner Greg. His site is prgproducts.com.
You have another option than just the Fox coilover. RadFlo makes one with a reservoir. They also have a rear shock with reservoir. Best thing is to give Greg a call and talk to him.
greg from prg did my lift and i am using 20x10 wheels and i dont remember what the offset was.......

Firemedic, you just missed a pretty good deal ont he CST 4wd kit. There is about a 4-6 weel delay on getting them from CST right now, and since alot of people have been waiting, i really dont see much of a group buy going-on until the get overstocked again. THe CST is a great kit. and you have a few options as far as a bolt-on coilover. there are actaulyl quite a few mods you can do to really get that kit to work well and get a better ride/more travel. are you doing the install yourself? that kit requires welding unless you get a differ upper a-arm. It also requires a bit of cutting.
Do you have any electronic copies of the install proceedure?

If i remember reading right, you said the pro-comp 6" system was low grade, yet some reviews I have read state a good ride, and it doesn't require and cutting or welding.

You also need to cut the rearward tab also. The welding is onthe coilbucket for the droop stops. You can add a TC upper a-arm and get by with out welding and actually get more down travel too.
Quick question vegas HD, why is the diff still mounted in there?

I tried to wave the pros and cons on how they wanted me to do things on this lift. I read the directions and everything made sense to me except removing the diff out of the way. I just saw no reason to. I removed everything underneath it, did my cutting, installed the new drop bracket and lowerd the diff into the bracket. It was super simple and went effortlessly. This was the easiest part of the install... I had a few problems with other things but no big deal.
Nissan lock tighted the CRAP out of this truck.
Oh and th back bracket got cut after the picture. I did not see the need to cut as high as I did btu the directions actually showe d apic cut higher then this. Greg probably already knows this from doing lots of them. But the angle piece up culd have been a 1/2" or so lower. In the big picture it really makes no difference.
