Question New guy, which lift system should I go with?

I have a 06 4x4 crew cab and I was thinking of going with the FabTech 6in with coilovers. But not sure if I want to go with a six or a seven lift. Is there anybody out there that makes a 8in or bigger that rides good? Anyinfo would be great. Thanks.

Re: New guy, which lift system should I go with?

there are two lifts out that are bigger than 6inchesout of the box. CST has a 7inch lift designed for a 4x4. the other is a 12inch by bulletproof. however I don't know if the bulletproof works on 4wd. also I hear that that kit has a bad ride and has no increased wheel travel.

with the cst you can get coilovers and a total chaos control arm for more lift and travel.
anyone else can add to my post as I'm also trying to further my knowledge on these trucks.

Re: New guy, which lift system should I go with?

I can get you about 8-9" of lift with a properly set-up Fabtech or CST kit. about 7-8 from a procomp kit. THe Fabtech stage 2 kit has similar propblems that the pc stage 2 does but thier coilovers are very expensive for the lack of performance but you will get the height. Be carful woth the FT kit to not over-extend the upper ball joint as the kit has a tendency to smach the lip of theupper a-arm into the new spindle and loosen the ball joint.

Re: New guy, which lift system should I go with?

I know that you would need a nice set of rear shocks and front coilovers. the radflo system is on my truck and works really well. I've also heard good things about donahoes and SAW. traction bars are also wise as they eliminate axle wrap and help with acceleration. the cst kit comes with an upper control arm but hits the coilbucket at full droop. if you want more lift and travel invest in total chaos a arms.

With 8-9 in lift could I put a bigger tire, like a 37?

Call PRG and get the CST kit, Chaos arms, Radflo Coils and 2.5 rears, Glass fenders and Bedsides. Should clear a 37 easily.

Re: New guy, which lift system should I go with?

So what would I be spending with all the best parts? Where can I find the Glass fenders and bedsides? Thanks for your help.

CST kit: anywhere from 1600-2100 (depending on where you get it from, used or new, etc)

Radflo 2.5 front coilovers: 1250
Radflo 2.0 rear shocks: 400 (or 500, i forgot, lol)
Deaver leaf springs: 300 for the mini pack; 600 for the full race pack
Fenders: 450 + paint
bedside: 450 + paint
Tires: at least 1100, depending on the style and brand
Rims: at least 1500 depending on style and brand

Just approximate numbers.

Re: New guy, which lift system should I go with?

For top of the line change 2.0 rear to 2.5
Deaver race packs are way too stiff unless you have a bed full of gear. Stay with the halfpack
Add $100 or so for install on glass fenders
Bedsides are $570 + extensive fitting $400-800 + paint
