PRG Question

I know the cheap way to go would be to do the 2.5" leveling kit for my wifes truck.. but since it is a Girls truck and she wants it to ride nice... would there be any bennifit to just doing fox's or DR's coilovers in there and adjusting the height that way? or is the Spacer the recommended way..

I was thinking about just splurging for the darn woman and having Fox's up front bilsteins in the rear and just using the fox's to level it out... and slapping on some nice offroadish looking tires for her!

Guess my main concern is if you up the preload on the shocks to adjust the ride height how is the ride?

Re: PRG Question

If you go with the DRs and Bilsteins, it will be level and ride nice.

Re: PRG Question

Coilovers will be better than a spacer even if they are preloaded to 3 inches.

Re: PRG Question

Could you just replace the front shocks and improve the ride?I dont care about jumping off cliffs or anything I just dont want to feel every little imperfection in the road.

you sure can. there are guys on here that do only the back because they can't afford to do the front and they say that it greatly improves the ride. most on this site that only do the rear (or do it 1st) get the bilsteins.

i was fortunate to get a great deal on some DR's. undoubtedly, i will install my fronts before my rear DR's get here. i'll comment on the ride before and after the rears are installed in my other post about the DR 4x4 rear shocks.

Re: PRG Question

als....both. i havent done much off roading but when i first got my lift i did a little off roading and it was very predictible on the dirt with dr coilovers and the radflo rears. i had the bilsteins on the rear but it felt floaty on the dirt so i had greg switch it to the radflo. as for the street like i said smoother then stock and handles better...

A Properly setup off road shock and suspension will ride soft and smooth on the street.

I can jump my truck in the dirt but it rides like a caddy on the street.

my front shocks will be here this Monday and i don't think Greg has shipped out my rear shocks yet. Jenn said it would take up to a week to ship out and then it'd probably take 3-4 days to get to me. i'm guessing that at the latest, the rears will be here 9/18

Sorry for the dumb question, but what exactly are the DR coilovers. I'm a new titan owner and was looking at the Pro Comp lift, until I read a few threads on this forum. Now I'm looking at just a leveling kit, but then I had the same question as ISBB. Would getting new coilovers be the way to go? And is that all you'd have to do?

DR Coilovers are the Donahoe Racing Coilovers. You can get them at prgproducts.com

Re: PRG Question

So to possibly oversimplify matters:

If you want a mini-lift and don't really care about the ride, go with spacers (such as the prg) for around $200.00.

If you want a mini-lift and ride improvement, go with a coilover (such as the dr, radflo, etc.) for $1000.00 +++

Thoughts anyone?
