body lift with suspension lift

any thoughts on combining a 3" body lift with a mild 2-4" suspension lift?
would a 3" body lift allow 35" tires on an off road/ big tow?

with a 2" leveling kit, 35" tires would fit, with the right backspacing/offset and rim width; may require trimming

if you got a 4" lift (Rancho, PRG/CST spindle lift) 35" tires would fit; possibly minor trimming if you went with a wider rim

Re: body lift with suspension lift

Are you planning to take the truck off-road or are you only after the look?

If you plan to take it offroad, avoid doing a body lift, at least that much of one. The body mounts act like levers and the flex from going offroad puts a lot more stress on the body, plus you'll find those pucks break relatively easily. Definitely don't want to cheapen up on the suspension if you plan to use it.

If you're only after the look and the ability to fit the tires, I don't see any problem with the body lift.

Re: body lift with suspension lift

Nothing like seeing the frame of a body lifted titan sitting under the truck. yuck

Oh and btw, body lifts are very involved. A simple body lift will take you a couple - few days to do

It would be cheaper and alot better if you just do a 6" lift?

Re: body lift with suspension lift

I would suggest a cst 4" spindle lift and a 2" leveling kit. You will be much happier. Body lifts hurt your value and the toughness of your truck.

I believe the 4" CST spindle kit only works on 2wds...

Re: body lift with suspension lift

thanks alot- i knew there was a reason there was virtually no talk on the forum about body lifts. they are for show. i want to do a 4" lift to fit 35" inch tires on my stock 17" wheels. i want to start out spending as little as possible and then adding on as i can afford. how should i start. i want something strong that i can build on. do i do rancho lift, and then add better shocks and other parts? i have an 05 4x4 off road big tow. thanks again

As far as i'm aware of, if you don't want to spend too much right off the bat, either FabTech or ProComp is good to start with. Fabtech has more potential to go higher; ProComp has a better quality kit (from what i've HEARD). Yes, you can add better shocks down the road, at your own pace.

Rancho's another good kit, but i believe you need to use their shocks at the time of install (not too sure on this one, thoug)

Re: body lift with suspension lift

This is my first post on this site, but Chris, in my experiences with modifying cars, trucks, etc., if you save a little longer, and get an entire setup together (ie - lift, shocks, a-arms, etc) at one time, you'll actually save money in the long run, and it will be alot less of a headache. Especially if you plan on doing the work yourself, believe me it's a pain in the *** to take stuff apart twice. I've had other vehicles that were "in progress" and it's just alot easier to change out a bunch of stuff all at once.

hope i could be of help

Re: body lift with suspension lift

As much as i really dont like body lifts (we dont sell or install them) they are not too bad at all on the titans. They still show less frame than a stock chevy!! Since the shifter and throttle are just wires, the brake and steering are all that are to be concerned with. As far as bodylifts go, these are probably the best trucks on the road to use one. I know desertdog and proarmwestler beat their trucks senceless and are both trucks are in great shape today.
