Warning light after lift

Hey all, I just had my Pro Comp lift installed a few days ago and so far everything has been great aside from the warning light that has started popping up randomly in the last 2 days.

The slip light comes on here and there for no apparent reason and I'm not sure why it's happening. The light isn't blinking it's just staying on steady. Nothing I can think of is making it come on and I'm not losing any traction since it's happening while I'm just driving down the road.

I haven't been able to get in touch with PRG today so I figured I would ask here. Any help is much appreciated!

Re: Warning light after lift

Sounds like it could be ABS sensors, but not sure

I'm not sure, today I noticed it after I made a couple hard turns to get out of a parking lot but as far as yesterday I don't know.

Re: Warning light after lift

On a hard turn its normal, your inside tire is lifting a bit and losing traction.

Re: Warning light after lift

Did your installer pinch a wire or leave something unplugged?

Re: Warning light after lift

I went back to the installer a little while ago and we both went over the whole underneath of the truck and can't find anything out of the ordinary. So at this point I'm still not sure what is causing it.

He did mention that it could have something to do with improper pressure in all the tires since my fronts seem to have less air in them than the back. Or he says it could also be the bigger tires messing with the computer. I dunno, he knows way more about this stuff than me so I'm just taking his word for it.

Re: Warning light after lift

On my last truck after having a lift installed I began to have the "ABS" and "brake" lights come on randomly. It ended up being that the way one of the ABS wires were routed to the hub caused it to get pinched. It was not pinched enough to give the visual appearance that it was damaged. After having the dealer diagnose the problem and replacing the wire the problem went away. After looking closely at the cable that was replaced you could see where it had a kinda flat spot in it, but the sheathing was not cut at all. Something to consider. I would try turning the wheels full lock to one side, get out and look at the routing of the line, then do the same with the other side as well. Make sure they are not being pinched anywhere.

Re: Warning light after lift

The ABS wires are very delicate. The installers probably damaged one of them during the install. now it needs to go to the dealer and they will tell you which it is and charge you, or the installer, an insane amount of money to replace the damaged wire. The other things may be an under-filled brake res. or posssibly an abs sensor on one of the front wheels may have not been tightened down and it will cause a bad reading. The dealer will charge to replace it before they offer to just tighen it up though. The sensors can also be damaged from just knocking around during the install too.

Same thing happened to my truck after my lift, I was driving away from the shop when I noticed the SLIP light on and brought the truck right back. The shop guys looked the truck over and couldn't come up with anything. As soon as I turned off the truck and turned it back on the the SLIP light disappeared and hasn't come on since. I thought it might have been caused by the engine idling when one or both of the front tires had been hoisted up.
