Prices for alignment

I was just wondering what people around here have paid for an alignment on their truck. I got quoted $120(ouch) from Big O Tires, they also said I might need some kind of cams? because I have some positive camber. Could anyone help me with this issue and where to get these cams because I am sure they will rape me for them, thanks.

Re: Prices for alignment

The new trucks don't have an adjustable cam, I think the 05's were the last ones with adjustable cams. I paid about 55 bucks to have mine done after I put on the prg level kit.

Re: Prices for alignment

The facility I work for charges $59. If eccentric cams are already installed there are no additional charges. We do charge parts and labor to install them if needed. $120 sound about right for that.

Re: Prices for alignment

Is it a fact then that the 05's come with them? How could I check to see if they are eccentic cams or can you not see them in there? Personally I think $120 is a ripoff just for the alignment, then if I need them they want me to purchase those as well. BTW, who makes the 2.5" leveling kit you have?

PRG makes a 2.5" lift for 2wd Titans. NCD also makes them. As for the eccentrics, I think they were put on the '05's up to a point through that model year. Then they quit. That was 06/02/05 I think. If you don't have them, yeah, they're kind of expensive to put on.

Re: Prices for alignment

I've been in the automotive equipment buisness for 15 years and specializing in alignments for the past 7 years. There is no set pricing on alignment. I've seen shops charge from $29 (stay away) to $129.00. Plus any additional parts and labor as needed. Our trucks are fairly easy to align, although Nissan has a very tight Toe spec. My suggestion is to go to a shop in your area that is known to do good work... And if your not sure, check out his equipment from the bay and see if it looks current and not some old piece that no doesn't function. Although some of the best alignment techs. I've seen don't even use machines..... Hope this helps...

Re: Prices for alignment

My PRG box said 2" leveling kit, not that a 1/2" really matters to me. Knowing the dealership I go to they will probably tell me that it won't be covered since I installed the leveling kit myself to save the $380 they wanted. I have a kid on the way and I am trying to save every penny. My truck was made in 5/05 is it a good chance I would have the adjustable cams then?

Just so you guys know a little bit about the idiots I have to deal with at Planet Nissan, the service manager told me one time that EVERY car has a 4000 RPM rev limiter when I was having problems with my Altima. Nice huh? He almost received a black eye for that comment

My 05 has adjustable cams. You should be able to look under your truck and see the cam. If it is adjustable it will have marks on it. Hope this helps. I am working on my driveway right now but if you need a pic later I can snap a couple.

Good idea of where it's at. I think it's #14 Cam bolt

The 2" kit is for 4x4's and the 2.5" kit is for 4x2's. It's got to do with the coilbucket hitting the UCA or not. The 2.5" kit will hit on a 4x4.

The 2" will work on a 2wd if you don't want the front to go as high.

Re: Prices for alignment

True. But it's not wise to go the other way: 2.5 on a 4x4. That would be a problem.
