Anyone with 6"+ lifted Titan had to change out there driveshaft?

I have a lifted 2 wheel drive Titan, I would say its about a 8"-9" total lift, no body lift. I just had new rear custom springs made (to get rid of the factory springs, add a leafs, block, and to make the truck level with the front). I am getting some wrap sound when I get on the gas from a dead stop coming from the rear of the truck. I would consider the sound to be axle wrap. I am pretty sure it did it with the old setup too, but I usually am not that hard on the gas. The shop that made the springs said that they have done a few other lifted titans, and when you go that high you have to have the driveshaft sent out to be made into a one piece. Anyone else had to change out the driveshaft?

Traction bars would be the way to control axle wrap.

My understanding is that people with the higher lifts use a carrier bearing drop bracket rather than a new drive shaft.

that is correct, no new driveshaft is needed

Yes, you just need a carrier bearing drop bracket.

And this is only needed is you are 4x2 also. 4x4s can't use this.

I have the Pro Comp carrier bearing drop down installed, along with the Pro Comp traction bars and I am still getting it. I am going to check the pinion angle compared to the driveshaft angle this weekend and see if thats maybe the problem.

If the TB are working correctly, there is really no way you can get axle wrap. Is it making noise? Whats the issue? you cannot see or "hear" axle wrap from the drivers seat. Are the springs the right length. Were they installed the right way (i know it sounds funny, but the pin is not centered and often the springs come without the bushings and they can be installed backwards). How bout a few pictures.

Re: Anyone with 6"+ lifted Titan had to change out there driveshaft?

Greg Here are some pictures. So if it’s true that you can’t hear axle wrap from inside the cab than that’s not it. Yes it’s making a noise. Only during a hard take off from a dead stop, I get a repetitive thudding sound coming from the rear of the truck, until I let off the gas. I have never tried to see at what speed the noise goes away if I keep on the gas, for the risk of damaging something. I measured the difference between the driveshaft and pinion with a angle finder, and its a 6 deg. difference.
