Quick Question; Lowering Shackles

Currently putting on 2" lowering shackles. On the rear drivers side bottom bolt to shackle, it does not look like I can remove the entire bolt with out removing the side storage compartment. Is this true? Is there another way?

Re: Quick Question; Lowering Shackles

Some people speed-bore a socket access hole and plug it later ... I forget if you jack the truck for the shackle swap, but if so, do it first, so the hole is in the correct place.

PRG has a way to remove the box fairly easily, so maybe someone has a link to his instructions, (if he ever wrote and posted them).

You guys just confirmed what I am seeing.

Looks as if I can remove the Box but I would also need to remove the mud flap assembly to get to some of the screws for the box.

I'm getting out the drill.

Thanks

Alright got that. Now where do I put the jack to release pressure off the rear leafs. Unter the Axle or unter the frame?

Thanks

Re: Quick Question; Lowering Shackles

who did you get the shackles from? Did they offer any advise? You need to remove the storage box. two phillips screws, 6 bolts and 3 plastic clips. Takes about 2 minutes to remove.

I got them off e-bay. They are made by spring tech. Seem to be well made. I'll be using them for strictly on road use. I actually drilled a hole in the box to remove the screw (wife gave me a time allowance). The hole lines up up with the removable shelf so it's hardly noticeable with the shelf in. I'll go back and patch it up later.
