Installed coilovers, but how do I raise them now?

I installed some Radflo 2.0 coilovers, now I want to raise them a bit higher.

Do they need to come off the truck to raise or can they stay on and be raised somehow?

You should be able to increase the spring pre-load by raising the truck to unload the suspension and the use the spanner to to tighten up the spring collar on the shock body. Be sure to loosen up any set screws on the collar first.

Re: Installed coilovers, but how do I raise them now?

thanks Lou, I had the truck in the air and weight off the coilover (less the a-arm and spinlde force). I can only budge the spring collar up with rubber mallet on the spanner. Impossible by hand. Never had c/o on a truck before, but on all of my sports cars it was an easy twist to raise or lower, just thinking these are different?

Re: Installed coilovers, but how do I raise them now?

I have never done these before on a truck. But i know on my Grizzly atv their is no way in hell i am going to turn my schocks with a regular spanner wrench. I have to jack it up and put some type of cheater bar on the end of the wrench to get leverage. Make sure they is not some time of stops that you have to unscrew before you can turn it.

Actually I have a 2' pc of tubing I slide over the spanner, and turn the wheels to one side...I also spray WD-40 on the ring and threads to help things turn.

Re: Installed coilovers, but how do I raise them now?

NO u don't need to remove the coilover to raise it just jack up the front end to release the compression so its easier to crank. i hope thats clear enough cuz i'm out of ideas...

and to explain the set screw in easy words its located on the part that you put the spanner wrench on and turn hence the reason why u need to loosen it to turn it. have u looked at ur coilovers yet at all?

Re: Installed coilovers, but how do I raise them now?

There is no set screw on the Radflo Shocks, the 2 nuts lock together.

Are you trying to spin both collars together? That would make it a lot harder.

Re: Installed coil overs, but how do I raise them now?

It sounds like the Radflo's have 2 body nuts tightened against each other to provide the locking, if so they need to be unlocked before trying to adjust the preload
