Question about PRG's 5/8" coilover spacer

Can these be used on top of the DR's so I can keep them around the 2" facory preset for softer ride and still get another inch with the spacers? This would be the same as cranking the DR's to 3" right?

Re: Question about PRG's 5/8" coilover spacer

Do you mean the spacer that comes with the PRG 4" Performance Package?
If so, yes, but you also need the aftermarket UCA, like the Total Chaos or PRG's, and an external bump stop. edit: removed droop

I'm not an suspension expert, but I think I remember that it's because, adjusting the preload collar will not affect droop, but the length of the coilover does. The DRE is already at the optimal length for the stock UCA, so adding a spacer takes away droop travel. Where the stock coilover is shorter so the level kits don’t have as much of affect until they get above the recommended level kit height. So with the DREs, and spacer you will hit your stock UCA against the bucket. With the aftermarket UCA no hits.

Oh, and the bumpstop is for bottoming, not topping out from droop ... I always get that one backwards. But the DRE has an "Internal Full Extension Damper".

Re: Question about PRG's 5/8" coilover spacer

k well what confuses me is this...
u can adjust the coilover up to 3" of lift (all of that being between ur coil bucket and lower a-arm) so what would really be the difference if i left my coilover at 2" and placed that spacer in there to give me 3" also (all of that being between the bucket and lower a-arm also)
i hope i'm not being redundant it just seems like the lift is being acquired in the same place with both set-ups that i just explained

You can set the ride height what ever you want, the shock length determines if the UCA/ball joint will be an issue or not.
Since the DR's are stock length, and the stock UCA's can handle a .625" spacer, the Camburgs should be "way fine"...IIRC the motion ratio is 3:1 so a .625" spacer should give you about 2" of lift...
That's my quote from another thread...
The stock suspension setup will tolerate a 5/8" spacer and MOST stock UCA's will be fine, but there have a been some that still hit the coil-bucket with that spacer.
Since the DR is stock length, MOST trucks should be able to run the stock UCA, but no promises...
Yes you can run a spacer for height and then keep the preload down to keep a softer ride...I did the same thing with my 4" lift spindles, reduced preload to get a better ride.

so is my previous post accurate? r u saying u ran the spacer on top of the DR's with stock UCA's and no banging? thats my goal as i'm just trying to fit my 315/70/17 BFG AT's on the stock OR wheels that i have sitting in my garage. keep in mind those tires are around 60% tread so i'm guesstimating that they're around 34" diameter at most.

I was under the impression the DREs were longer than stock, but still a stock application. Designed with the knowledge that there were a couple of inches to play with, as shown by the level kits ... therefore, (if I'm correct), a 5/8" spacer on top of the DRE, would require the aftermarket upper A-arms, otherwise why does the 4" Performance Package, come with the uppers? idk

Since people clear the 34.5" dia. LT315/70/17 on the XE and O.R. wheels with a PRG level kit, (some have to do the pinch-weld-mod, and others don't), that sounds like if you level the Titan with DREs, (and nothing else), 2" on a 4x4 and 2.5" on a 2wd, then you should have an equal chance of clearing.

  1. Which is cushier?
  2. Which has better "quality" travel?
  3. Which has more travel?
  4. Which would handle better on curvy roads, (which would take a given curve at the fastest speed)?

Re: Question about PRG's 5/8" coilover spacer

k so the tire clearance shouldn't be any issue. now we're still stuck on the UCA/coilbucket issue. i thought the DR's were longer as well, but fit stock apps. just want to know: do DR's + PP spacer = banging coilbuckets? if so at what setting on the DR's does it become an issue?

Being the humble man I am, I could be wrong...We'll have to wait for Judge Greg to make a ruling...

I have the DR coilovers with the 5/8" spacers and TC arms,
and when my truck is at full droop the TC arm's have about 1/8" clearance from the coilbucket.with that sad I believe the stock arms would hit.
the coilover lift rule is 2 to 1, if you crank the DR's 1/4"= 1/2" lift.
so the 5/8" spacer give's a free 1 1/4" lift to what ever you have the DR's set at. so yes you can get your desired lift with less preload with the 5/8" spacer.
how ever I also believe a stock A-arm would hit, it does not have the clearance a tubular A-arm does.
so you can use the 5/8" spacer to accomplish a couple things.to get a desired lift with less preload or to get more lift period. my .02
the DR's MAX lift is 3" the spacer makes it 4 1/4".

well if so many people are having coilbucket issues with a 2.5" lift via spacer wouldn't i with say DR's at 2" and spacer giving total of 3.25"?

YES although it's not the shock adjustment but the spacer.
you can have the DR adjusted at 3"max lift and without the spacer the A-arm should not hit the coilbucket, its when you add the spacer that allows the suspension to doop further down making the A-arm come closer to the coilbucket.
SO

.
lets say the DR's are installed and when your truck unweights the suspension drops and the stock A-arms are 1/2" from the coilbucket. ok you install the 5/8" spacer and the DR's is now mounted 5/8" lower and now the suspension can drop 5/8" more allowing the stock A-arm to come in contact with the coilbucket. you need tubular A-arms to use the 5/8" spacer.they have more clearance.
