I have an 04 2wd and want to get a Pro Comp 6" lift with the coilovers and the 35"x12.50" that Pro Comp recommends. Before I get it I want to know how it handles off road and if it gets stuck easy. And if any of you guys recommend a different lift kit for off road use. Thanks.
Get the Pro Comp Stage 1 Kit, then upgrade to a set of aftermarket coilovers from PRG Products, either Sway-A-Way (commonly referred to as SAW) or Radflo. Then for the rear, you can either get a set of Bilstein 5125 shocks for about $200 or even better Radflo or SAW's for the rear as well. The reason I suggest this is that many, many owners have been less than satisfied with their "Stage 2" coilovers from ProComp.
What about a set of CST 4" lift spindles and a set of SAW's/Radflos that can add another 2" of lift for your goal total of 6".
This would be the performance approach, as opposed to just "lift"...

Get spindles and coilovers for less than the pc kit. More height (adjustable) more clearace, stronger, easier to install, fewer parts for the dealer to balk at if you need service, better ride than the PC stage 2 kit.

listen to the man...if i could i would go back and take this exact approach. actually... it seems that im slowly working that way. just get the spindles and a c/o! trust me.. you'll regret the lift everytime you have to look at that horrid crossmember. lol
This might sound like a stupid question but does a 6" lift look the same either way you lift it? For some reason it always seems like the spindles/c-o/rear shocks always look lower than a pro comp stage 1 with c/o.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on a 4WD, you can choose either the 6" Bracket Lift route OR the 4" PRG Performance Package route. The 6" lift will stand taller than the 4" lift.
However, with the 2WD's, you have the same options, however you can gain more height than 4" on the 2WD with the correct setup.
For example (I think this is all correct?? )
My truck: 6" Stage 1 PC lift on a 4WD with 35" tires
Burly: 4" Rancho lift on a 4WD with 35" tires
NorCal 4x4: 4" PRG Perf. Lift on a 4WD with 35" tires

Maybe the 2wd guys(I'm one) don't lift the rear as much.
I think the lift spindles look much better then the bracket lift, you gain ground clearence under the lower control arms, and you don't see that goofy lowered cross-member...

6" is 6", doesn't matter how you lift it ... the difference you might see in the spindle/coilover set-up probably have to do with the amount of preload the coilovers have
