Prg Heavy Duty Shackle Install W/ Pics

Tools needed:
floor jack
19mm open end wrenches and or socket set
small pry bar big screw driver
grinder or metal file

OK jack up rear of truck by the bumper or frame
Loosen the bolts attaching the shackle
Remove bolt attaching shackle to frame mount,spring will spring towards bed
With pry bar push leaf spring up to remove 2nd bolt above frame
Grind or file tabs on inside of mount on frame
Install shackle on leaf spring with gusset (support with hole) facing the rear
(don't go thinking its a good idea to install that bolt from the outside toward the the frame because you think its easier, the pointy end will hit the frame and you will have to take it off and reinstall them both again )
With pry bar pull leaf spring down and install bolt
Repeat on opposite side lower truck.

well those worries should be gone after this weekend though shouldn't they??

bech, looks good, i like the new stance....those stock shackles look like crap compared to greg's hd's...

Hey BECHLYE, I really appreciate the detailed pics and instructions. I've been thinking about doing this since Greg posted about these adj. shackles. You've given me the courage and taken out the guess work to do it myself. Thanks bro'.

Looks good. Thanks for the pictures. The only thing stopping me from buying the PRG shackles is a question about the shackle bushings. Do they seem to be the same quality as the OEM shackle?

Greg (& 99% of aftermarket) uses polyurethane.

Alternatively, if you have the right jack stands, you can jack up and support the frame on jack stands, then put the floor jack under the pumpkin and use that to ease leaf spring tension so you can pull the bolts. No pry bar required using that method.

That's what I did, although it was a struggle to reach that high because of my lift.

One thing for everyone to keep in mind, the install is a bit more involved if you have a bedside lockbox. It's still pretty easy though for the DIY'er

The rear is taller than the front and I don't want to purchase or haul around a big rig floor jack.As it is when I adjust the coilovers I have to use 4 2x4's x12" long screwed together to get her high enough. As far as the prying, its only about 1" no biggie.
