SAWs on all around

Well, this weekend I changed out the rear DRs for the 2.25" Sway-A-Ways and I could not be any happier. The SAWs are (and I hate to say this) much better than the DRs. The first thing I noticed after installing them was how much smoother they were over the bumps. Don't get me wrong, the DRs were leaps and bounds above the stock shocks, but the SAWs are just better. I haven't had the time to really beat them on the rough stuff yet, but I'll tell you when I get the chance. Install was a piece of cake thanks to BlackBeauty and his write-up from his recent install.

Also, I replaced the allen bolt on the top hat for the front coilovers with the shorter bolt provided by Greg. I had problems with the infamous "clunking" sound coming from the coilovers and these bolts helped reduce the problem. A small amount of clunk is still in the front, but it is not as noticable/annoying as before. The upper hiems have been sprayed with lubricant (aka WD-40) as I've heard that could also help the problems.

To complete my whole suspension change, I decided to take off the front sway bar. I was very hesitant to take this off before, as I have never driven a vehicle without the front sway bar connected. This is probably the greatest modification I could have made for the suspension. The ride is just much more exciting now that I am getting full travel/use out of the SAWs.

Thanks again BlackBeauty and Greg for the help. I'm wondering why in the world I didn't just install my suspension by myself the first time around. I guess you just live and learn.

BTW, I'll try to get some pictures up sometime. I just have to find someone with a digital camera and have a day where the weather will cooperate for once.

If you have the money to get them, I say definitely go for it. Not only do they look great, they perform great also. I'm sure you'll hear their praises from the others running them, especially those out in the desert.

There's a reason why they cost as much as they do.....because they're worth every penny.

Re: SAWs on all around

Nice!!!! I am going to pick up my SAW's font and rear this friday from Greg. He said he had a set of DR's he would get me real cheap, but he still recommended the SAW's. I am very happy to hear that you like the SAW's so much more than the DR's. I will be putting these on my Frontier along with PRG Titan uppers and stock Titan lowers. Supposedly I should be getting at least 12" of travel or more. I can't wait!

Re: SAWs on all around

Awesome! Glad to hear the front "clunk" is not as bad as it was before. I still stand behind getting mine revalved. Best thing I ever did w/ my SAW's up front. Post some pics when you can.
One day I'll get around to removing my sway bar too.

Yeah, I'm trying to weed out as many problems as I can before I take them off and send them back to him. Sending them back is the last option. As for the sway bar, once you remove it, you'll never want it back on again.

Re: SAWs on all around

Which bolt are you talking about? My Saw's clunk when going in and out of reverse, or when first taking off, it;s definately the suspension clunking. Greg replaced one of my heims which had play in it on one side (could clunk it on command), and now I think the clunk is only coming from the other side but it's intermitten. I hope it's not going to require replacing another Heim .

If a simple bolt fixes the problem which bolt is it?

The bolt I'm talking about is the allen bolt located at the top of your coilover. It connects the coilover to the tophat. It's about 3-1/2" long or so.

Re: SAWs on all around

sounds really good juday, i have DR's right now and I was wondering if you would suggest to go SAW instead. Do they give you more lift or about the same as the DR's?

Re: SAWs on all around

The rear shocks don't offer any lift.

But I have been told that the rear SAW's are WORTH the cost.. I'm gettng mine next week...

I don't know if Greg wants me to give out pricing information, but if you're curious, just give him a call.

Re: SAWs on all around

Juday - do you have the 6" lift? If so, would you be interested in gettting rid of the DR's?? If they are smoother than my Bilsteins, I might be interested if you want to let them go for cheap
