BILSTEIN 5100's

I just got around to installing the BILSTEIN 5100's on my truck. Here are some pictures that i took. I don't offroad the truck much. ALL i got to say these are worth the money. The ride WAAAAY BETTER then the stock and I like these over the Bilstein HD. These went on my 04 CC 2wd with the big tow.

Sorry some of these pictures are taken with my camera phone:

STOCK VS. 5100

This is with the clips at 2"

How high the front wheels sits at 2"

How the car sits on the Bilsteins

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

Looks good. Are they different size than stocks? (front ones) Just wondering since you showed the measurements with a tapemeasure. How much did the whole set run you? Those are the shocks im considering.

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

I've heard that these shocks are way better than the spacers. Did it require any alignment or other "after-maintenance" or were they just bolt and go. Looks good by the way.

Are the front shocks adjustable?

Those are the ones I'm thinking about getting, I just want to raise the front about 1 1/2" to get rid of the stink bug look but keep a little rake.

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

When you say "way better than stock" could you elaborate? Is the suspension more harsh / truck like, or does it ride smoother than stock with better bottom resistance? Thanks? Oh yea - are they the adjustable 5100's up front? You did not specify?

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

The shocks I put on are adjustable on the fronts. I got it at the 2" raise. As far as the ride it is smoother then the stock. Before this i had the ncd spacer on the stock shocks and it kinda clunks when i go over a speed bump. With the bilstein when i go the speed bumps, i can hardly feel it.

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

I've done a little research on these shocks and you can find a few more answers on some other threads.....just search "5100" or "Bilstien". You can leave the truck at stock height in the front if you put the snap ring at "0"....then you can set it for a 1" lift or a 2" lift. If you notice in the pictures, there are two grooves below the location that he has his set at...those would be the "0" and 1" grooves. The best price I found a few months back was at shockwarehouse.com...It was about $399 for a set of 4. I've heard it's a pain itn the $#s to compress the front coils though. Supposedly you don't have to get an alignment afterwards.

I was going to get a set for my 06' XE but I just traded it for a 08.5' SE so I'm going to wait awhile.

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

Compressing the front spring wasn't too bad..i used my friends SNAP-ON spring compressor which helped a lot. After i put the shocks on I didn't get it aligned and it drove pretty straight, but i am going to take it to my friends tire shop and let them check it out to see if i need one.

If you can - give us your feedback on this same thread after they are installed. Let us know how you like them, and how the install went.

Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

I was looking at these also for my front shocks but still undecided going with SAW's for my front. I put Icons on the rear recommended by PRG.
