Icon Shocks

Anyone replace their factory Rancho shocks with Icon 4WD DR signature series Mono-tube shocks? I'm going with Greg's (PRG) recommendation to buy Icon shocks from him along with getting Air Bags for better towing of my Keystone 28' Travel Trailer. He didn't have any Air Bags but gave me the part number for AirLift Bags. A lot of Titan owners have dealt with Greg and I appreciate his recommendations. I'm trying to get some feedback from other users because my local tire company who will install Firestone Air Bags (although they are suppose to be an Airlift Air Bag supplier) recommend not replacing my Rancho Shocks.

(EDITED) Any recommendations for replacement shocks for the front. I have the Trailmaster 2" level kit installed on the front but the same factory shocks.

Re: Icon Shocks

Why in the world would they not want you to replace those crappy OEM shocks?? I would go with Greg's recommendation, way before I would believe some guy at a tire shop!!!!!

Re: Icon Shocks

That was my set-up until I changed to the rear SAW's.. I can not speak highly enough of that combination.. Rock soild even during the worst side wind.. Don't listen to the tire shop, they probably think you have "real" Ranchos, and not the crap OE re-badge stuff... If you want a set of slightly used ICON/DR's let me know, I can ship them to you..

Re: Icon Shocks

Going with the Icon's for the rear and Firestone Ride Rite Air Bags. Will get SAW's for the front after I finish installing rear shocks and air bags.

Re: Icon Shocks

I'm curious as to why you chose Icon vs. Bilstein? I think they are about the same price.

even if he had the 'real' ranchos, they still wouldn't compare to the DR/ICON coilovers...or any other high-end C/Os

Thanks, good to know, my ride is a lot smoother and noticeable on dirt roads waiting to hear from Greg still before I decided on SAW's for the front or keep the same coilovers and just replace the shocks, decisions, decisions!

going with a quality coilover such as a Sway-A-Way, King, Fox or Donahoe (Icon) is day and night and reaps many significant advantages over a coilover with not much of a name or history. valving experience as subtle as one thinks is what seperates the men from the boys.
