PRG traction bars rule!

I finally got them put on today. After receiving them I went to put them on and it turns out two of my friends welders are both broken. So I went to 3 different muffler shops and none of them could weld only braze. They all recommend i go to a body shop. So i went to a good friend of my girlfriends dad, he owns a body shop. So i get to talking to him and he wont weld them on because of concern with it weakening the frame, and he did not want to be reliable if something happened. So i went to another that worked on my old truck and they told me the same thing. Finally i went to a local welding shop and they told me the same as well.

So off to my local 4x4 shop where i should have went in the first place. I just did not want to go because i knew they charge 70 dollars an hour labor. Plus they were already mad that i refused to pay them 800 bucks to put on my procomp lift and just did it myself. Anyway they did it no questions asked and about 20 minutes later and 70 bucks poorer i got them welded on.

I love them so far, no more squatting when you take off. The whole rear end feels solid. When punching from a dead stop she just takes off like a rocket. Plus the best part of all not more annoying axle wrap. I used to get a annoying jerk when taking off, even slowly. Thats completely gone now. They even feel solid when braking, i dont know how to explain it but when hitting the brakes real hard i feel more planted on the ground. I have even had a chance to try them offroad yet. So far they have been an awesome investment. I was kinda unsure about spending that much money on a bar but they work great and were defiantly worth it.

Now that the books over here are some pics:

If anyone is thinking about buying these, quit thinking and just do it!

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

489 for those, the street bars do the same thing and cost a little less. the only difference is that they are a single tube.

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

Welding is easy, getting the Metal cut is the harder part. And knowing the right dimensions, angles, Rod Ends,, Powdercoating the brackets, Precision Drilling the Mounts, Proper Grade Hardware etc...Why do it?

I have the Street Bars, and absolutely love them. I have a welder and torch and whatever, been welding 30 years. I'd buy the PRG anyday! Great Guy (Greg), Great Product.

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

I agree its more than just a bar welded to the frame. It would take a little math to get it ride. Plus a bunch of stress is getting put on it, all the trucks tourque so you better have some beefy materials.

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

Nicely said... I love mine too... in fact after tearing two transmission mounts in two years, I finally decided to order the PRG street traction bars, along with front/rear SAW's and Deaver leafs... I too experienced the "why in the H3LL did I wait so long to do this???" after installation was completed... so I second the, "if you are thinking about it... stop thinking about it, DO IT!, you won't regret it...

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

how do you know if your tranny mounts are broken? I think mine are, sometimes when I gas it (which I don't do often for fear it'll happen) it has a delay and a clunk kinda hard one. is that the tranny bouncing under there? my shocks are probably terrible shape now also so probably get worse axle wrap when they're blown I'd imagine... I think I need track bars and saws front and back and possibly new tranny mount

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

I purchased mine off another member and sat on them for months before I had greg install them. It feels so much better that before from a dead stop take off.

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

I have to agree.. MUCH more solid on takeoffs, turning, stopping... everything! It corners better, and the steering response became a bit more linear. I really like what the traction bars did for this truck! Nice job!!!!

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

has anyone installed them on a stock suspension truck (no lift)? I won't ever lift my truck, but if the benefits are still there with the bars, I may get them.

Re: PRG traction bars rule!

The lift doesn't matter. The axle wrap is there on ALL Titans.... These will improve it no matter what you're running. The only "lift" I have is a rear spacer block... not much as far as lifts go. Well worth it IMO....
