Re: Installing the 4inch PRG Perf lift tomorrow

I hardly slow down for speedbumps anymore. I still feel them, sure - but the SAW's are WAY better at taking the hit then the stock shocks were.

You may want to run through all your bolts again to make sure they are all at the specified torque, especially the bolt that connects the coilover body to the hat. If I remember right, Greg sent shorter bolts along with the coilovers to replace the bolts that are a little too long. Though if you didn't get replacement bolts he may be swapping them out before shipping now.

You might also lube the UCA ball joint with some WD-40 to see if that helps.

Re: Installing the 4inch PRG Perf lift tomorrow

Thanks. I was under the impression that these things will take speed bumps and absorb them. I will say thats not the case. I will double check everything tomorrow. I did get the shorter bolts and I lubed up the joints really well 2 days prior to install and after. Maybe I just need to break them in a little and see what happens. They absorb bumps and it rides good, but I guess I was expecting something else.

I like the lift effect and the saw's are sexy.

It sucks when you spend a bunch of money and your expectations are not met. I bet most of us here can relate to that in one way or another.

Here's hoping that as your new suspension breaks in that you find it growing on you...

If not I bet there's a few vultures, uh, forum members here that will take them off your hands.

Re: Installing the 4inch PRG Perf lift tomorrow

No, I will keep them and they will work fine for my non off roading purposes. This is just my daily driver, nothing crazy. The way folks brag about these things, I was expecting more. I'm satisfied with their performance, I just thought they would take speed bumps at 5mp without noise and feeling it. Other than the sped bumps, they are great and I like the lifted look. Now I need to install my rears.

All the hard work paid off but now I know why they pay mechanics for what they do.

Re: Installing the 4inch PRG Perf lift tomorrow

hope it's not another SAW that's not pressurized... I hope mine are good to go when I get the fronts and put them all on good luck, and post back when you find out.. maybe get some front bumpstops? but I'd imagine with the SAWs set to a preload where they're stiff it'd be hard? closest thing would be UCA to coil bucket and with a PRG UCA I couldn't see it being a problem... but then again I've never seen a PRG UCA or a fully extended or compressed suspension on a titan close up... only mine when jacked up it of coarse nails coil bucket, but I have stock UCAs I'm SO wanting saws to get me 1"+ higher than the 2.5" leveling kit I have on now... I guess we'll see...

Man, that's the truth. I always guess at how long these installs are going to take and stuff comes up while you're doing it and it usually takes about twice as long.

Hawaiianbasshead makes a really good point. Even with the PRG UCA's I still had contact between the coil bucket and UCA at full droop until I did a little grinding - just a little, about 1/8", which may be the thud you're hearing.

Yea, man I took leave this week just to get it on. Maybe we can meet up and you tell me what you think. I'm going to wear out the stockers and see. Heck the way gas prices are, I might have to go skinny to save a buck lol.
The install took me a while but I did run into a few install problems.

That sway bar got in the way, I ha da problem with the shock bolt, and the shock was a bear to slip in on the driver side due to the steering knuckle. It was interesting but I would do it again now. Let me know when your ready. I did all of it in my drive way. Now I gotta do the rears

I dont think I'm making contact anywhere. I have tripled check and I dont see anything touching, rubbing. The shocks have the propper PSI. When I hit the big bumos it just feels like a thud, almost like there are no shocks on it at all. It's only on the big bumps. The small stuff is smooth and silky. I will give it time and see. Greg said he doubts it's the valving.

Re: Installing the 4inch PRG Perf lift tomorrow

Do the SAWs have a built in anti bottoming out damper (I guess that's what you would call it)? I think the DRs have something built in so the shock stops before actually bottoming out (I believe I read in a thread). My DRs also make a thud when I put my tire into a fairly deep pot hole. When I check the PRG UCAs, there is no paint missing or scratches in them.

Hey grpape, hows it going man? how much preload do you have ? did you change the bump stops to the thick urethane bumps ? You might be bottoming out the shock. take it easy till you get em.

Re: Installing the 4inch PRG Perf lift tomorrow

Yup got those bump stops on them. I have them cranked to about 1" of thread showing. I think the UCAs are still hitting the bucket. Time to bring out the dremmel. Does anyone have a link w/ some pics. I hit a 4"-5" pot hole head on and heard the thud. It pretty much sounds like when I used to have the stock UCAs, and they hit the coil bucket.
