Intro and Tech question

Hey guys..My name is "Mac" and I'm a NEW titanaholic...LOL!!! You guys got some pretty sick rides in here. I'm really impressed with the pre-runner styles of the 2wds. In fact...thats where I'm heading with my 07 2wd.

Obviously PRG has got majority recommendations so thats where i've been shopping. According to Greg's write-up on the titans different lifts...seem's like the spindle lift kit is where I wanna go. Could someone clear up a few questions with their experience so I can order my shiat?

1) 4" spindle lift + PRG 2.5 LSpacer = 6.5"....that as much as I want. Is the 2.5 LSpacer a necessary part or just for that 2.5" more?

2)When my billfold decides to add coil-overs down the road...like the SAWs...
a)will I need to remove that 2.5" LSpacer?
b)will I gain more lift? (I want the performance/handling but no higher than the 6.5")

Thanks

Re: Intro and Tech question

2a. Yes, you will replace the entire OEM coilover and spacer with the SAW's.
2b. It's up to you. The SAW's are adjustable so you could likely set them for more or less lift than you currently have.

I don't have spacers (never did) I went straight to the SAW's. I don't recall if the issue of SAW's with a spacer was a matter of you are _supposed_ to do that or it simply isn't possible to do that. I think it is the latter but it might depend on which type of SAW's you get.

Re: Intro and Tech question

Thanks for the info and I understand now.

I got a local shop that will do the install and alignment for 500.00. Is that about the going rate to get the PRG Spindle Kit installed or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks
Mac

Re: Intro and Tech question

Sorry, I can't help you. I haven't done spindles since I'm 4x4. Have you had an alignment done before? If not then you may need the camber adjustment bolts. If you buy them online they could be around $55. But if you have the dealer do the alignment job then you'll pay a lot more. These can be installed by you and the savings can be significant. My dealer charged me out the nose.

Re: Intro and Tech question

It's really an easy kit to install, basically unbolting stuff, swapping parts, then bolting it all back together again, but if you're not confident in your mech. abilities, go ahead and have the local shop do it. Should take them about 4 hours to install the kit then the alignment.... so if you feel it's worth $500, go for it.

Re: Intro and Tech question

Stockton, you might be able to get some volunteers from the forum to help with your install. The promise of free beer and pizza go a long way. I would rather have someone that owns a Titan and has done the install before do my install than someone who is just now reading the instructions.

Re: Intro and Tech question

The lift you are referring to is not that hard to do. The saw's will replace the entire oem coil and spacer. you cant run the spacer and saw's, they have a hat that needs to be on top of the coil bucket. i have this now plus some and love it. included in that you will also need longer break lines, if you decide to add either spacer to oem or saw's you will have hella front rake so a 4" rear block will be needed to get level. at that point you will need a CBDB, carrier barring drop bracket, to lower the drive shaft a little. go for it man, it looks sweet.

Re: Intro and Tech question

Peyton--> Saw your ride and what you did...VERY NICE!

PRG Spindle kit is what I'm ordering.

It was suggested by Valley Truck Works that I get the Sway Bar Links however PRG's website said its not necessary for a Spindle Lift. So I asked where did that info come from and Valley said they were told so by PRG..???? What am I missing there????? I have no problems buying them as well but are they needed/important in the long/short run??

HERE IS MY OFFICIAL OFFER TO ANYONE IN MY AREA WILLING TO DO THE LIFT THAT HAS THE EXPERIENCE AND EQUIPMENT TO DO A PROFESSIONAL JOB.

2 CASES OF BEER & 2 LG PIZZAS - YOUR CHOICE OF BRAND AND TOPPINGS
