Install a PC 6 inch Lift

Thinking about buying a lift and installing it myself, is there any special tools involved? I have read where you dont have to drill or cut with the PC lift so thats the one for me. Any info would be very helpfull. Thanks David

Re: Install a PC 6 inch Lift

Took me about 8-9 hours without air tools. Make sure you have enough 'cribbing' to set the front end off the ground high enough if you don't have a lift to utilize. Makes it waaay easier having room to work underneath.

You'll need some fairly large metric and standard wrenches, up to about 24mm I believe, as well as a EDIT: 32mm socket for the axle shaft nuts. Make sure you spray your brake line fittings on the frame rail really good (where rubber meets solid). The PC kit comes with braided, extended lines, and the factory fittings can be a beeotch. I ended up using vice grips on mine after no success with the line wrenches.

Also helps to have a second set of hands.

The rear end is simple.

Re: Install a PC 6 inch Lift

I have found 2 different PC 6 inch lifts for the same price. One lift has front shocks and the other has front braided brake lines. My question is for the money which is the better deal, or which did everyone else install? Thanks for any info David

They should both come with steel lines and rear shocks. The stage 2 kit comes with ProComp coilovers and should cost a bit more (~$800-$1000) then the stage 1 kit.

Re: Install a PC 6 inch Lift

^^^What he said.

Get the stage 1 kit, then upgrade to QUALITY coilovers (aka NOT Procomp) afterwards.

Re: Install a PC 6 inch Lift

Both are the stage 1 kits, the one from PRG has brake lines for $1299 and the one from 4wheelonline has front shocks ES9000. Didn't know which one was the better deal. Thanks for the help guys really want a lift but need the best deal.

Both kits you're looking at include the brake lines. They are a standard item w/ the ProComp kits. I looked at the 4WheelOnline website, they basically have 4 lift kits available..

1) Stage 1 2WD EXP-K6002B
2) Stage 2 2WD EXP-K6002BMX
3) Stage 1 4WD EXP-K6001B
4) Stage 2 4WD EXP-K6001BMX

^^^Same part numbers (basically) as what is found on 4WheelParts and also NTWonline.com as well.

I purchased my Stage 1 kit through National Tire & Wheel (ntwonline.com) and their part number is exactly: PC K6001B

Don't be fooled by their(4WheelOnline) silly pictures because they show the same thing in all four pictures.

An accurate description of what comes with the Stage 1 Kit (PC K6001B)

Number: PC K6001B
Manufacturer: Pro Comp
Amt of Lift: 6"
Front Suspension: Replacement Spindles, Brackets, Spacers
Rear Suspension: Blocks
Other Major Components Included: Crossmembers, U-Bolts, Sway Bar Brackets, Compression Struts, Brake Lines
Shocks Included: Front - No Rear - Yes
Special Wheel Requirements: Yes - Backside = 5" Size 17" plus
Max Tire Size: 35x12.50

Stage 2 kit comes with all the same, except upgraded front and rear shocks!!

An accurate depiction of what comes in the Stage 1 kit:

Stage 2 kit shown here:

I ran my Stage 1 kit for nearly 30k before replacing the stock coilover/ProComp Spacer assembly with a set of SAW Coilovers.

The crappo ProComp ES3000 series shocks that come stock lasted about 15k before the seals went and I replaced with Bilsteins.

Otherwise, I'm completely happy with the ProComp kit!

Re: Install a PC 6 inch Lift

4wheelonline told me EXP-K6001B kit did not come with brake lines (must not know what he is talking about). Greg with PRG said his kit does come with new front brake lines and no front shocks. The best price that I have found is $1299 from Greg is this a good deal or is that too much? Thanks again 54

Yep!

I paid around $1400 for mine back in May 2005. Prices have come down a bit since then. As long as shipping won't kill you, I'd suggest ordering from Greg.

Heck, 3 years ago when I bought my lift kit, PRG was only selling Leveling Kits (my how things have changed since then!) If I had to do it all again, I'd be ordering everything from Greg, that's for sure!!
