Air Bags

Hello, New here, Just signed up for the Forum, Anyway. I just bought All my air bag componets. all I'm waiting on is Fittings. Anyway, I've had several Cars and Trucks before, and I've bagged them too. Just wantted to say hi, and I'll be posting a bunch of pictures, when I get started, So look for me. Friday the 13th(Great day to start a weekend project) I'll be getting started. Here's what I'm running, I have a bunch of pictures ready to load on here, before I start. 2600 lb bags all 4 corners, Monster Bridge in the Back, 8" or so, two 9 gallon 4 port tanks, No Air Compressor. Running CO2, Liquid CO2 is stored at 3000 psi, and comes in volumes of 75 lbs. Not sure what that will equate too in Gas form Cubic inches. But it's a lot. The tank beings how it is Liquid, will use the twin 9 gallon tanks to expand to gasses CO2. the regulator on the Main CO2 tank will be set at a max of 300 psi and a minimum of 150 psi. Anyway, Yea, no need for Air Compressor, Air for Days.. Besides runninf CO2 in the East coast, I live in Florida, right on the beach, so Rust is an issue, Steel tanks, Valves, etc, will benifit from running CO2 insted of compressed air. Moving on, Running dual 1/2" supply line to all four corners. Tee'd into a single monster 1/2" valve, directly mounted to one of the Twin 1/2" ports. It will be fast to say the least. Anyway, look for pics soon, before, after, in process, and new parts, and all. Take care, and I'll see you guys on the low side...

Re: Air Bags

So will it be a King or a Crew cab like mine?

Are you going to do custom arms, flatten the frame and move the gastank up? I know alot about bagging it...

Re: Air Bags

WOW! Your truck is Exactly what I'm going for... That's nice!!! MIne's a 4 door too. I know bit about bags myself, the Ex, had my truck for the last year, because I was in Korea... Military... and well, I'm back now, and can start chop'n and weld'n. That's a quarter in the Pictures... On a side note, Did you take any pictures during your install? I was going to flip the balljoints to get the fron lower, by switching left for right and vise versa, top and bottom A-Arms. I'm not using the Air waves or anything in the fron, Going good old fashion bag mounts, I have bucket cut outs for the front, and mount the bag to the bottom A arm, and the bucket will recess the frame a little bit. the rear is an Over the Axle mount,

Re: Air Bags

You'll find out that the front isn't going to be as easy as you think. Trust me on that one. You can do it normal but it won't go that low and you'll have negative camber. The spindles are too tall to go low....here are some pics I have of other spindle ideas...I have 2005 chevy spindles, brakes etc...with custom arms top and bottom.

My setup

Re: Air Bags

BTW, If you need some spindles to play with, I will sell you both for $150...you can chop them and reweld them like the silver ones in the second picture.

Re: Air Bags

drgntitan - where abouts in Florida are you? are you planning on doing the work all yourself or is there a shop locally that can do that kind of work? I'm pretty new to this scene but I live in Orlando and I'm really keen on the bagged look. Just got my Titan and interested to know a few things about bagging them!!

Thanks for the info

bdmpastx - your truck really does look seriously stealth!

Re: Air Bags

If you don't do the spindles, frame modifications etc. You can only do this low on 22"s

Referece on 24"s and I can still lay frame on 26"s too

Re: Air Bags

I plan on doing all the Work Myself, I've bag'd a few things, Hard Bodies, Taco's, even built custom Air Struts for the Ford Tempo... Anyway, I've got my own Tubing bender, Plasma cutter and welder. I've got some toys to use. Anyway, I've just been out of the Bag'd scene for a year or so. I have other toys that I’m working on too, like a Porsche 944 with a twin turbo 5.0L and my 86 Bronco. (The reason for the Tubing bender). Well, I live in Fort Walton Beach Area, close to Pensacola, and Panama City Beach. I'm stationed in Hurlburt Field. For now, I'll be running the 17's until I get the budget up for larger wheels. But for now, they'll do. Well, thanks for all the Info; you guys have been helpful... I would have started this weekend but, I decided to take the Jet Ski out instead... But I will start this weekend... cleaned up my garage and everything.

Re: Air Bags

Wow, I need bigger wheels! I have 17's on mine. now with 245/45R17's on it I lowered by flipping the axle, and cutting a coil out of the front, It looks ok, rides fine, but, definitely needs bigger wheels. I haven't air bagged it yet, I'm getting ready to go on a deployment, So it will be a few more weeks before I get to put my bags on. I cut out the Bump stop brackets, so there’s going to be a lot of room for drop. I can't wait. But time will tell. Just thought I'd put an up date in here. It took me and a friend (Who doesn't know much about fabrication) 3 and 1/2 hours to mount balance, Flip the rear axle, and cut a coil out of the front. From start to finish. So April is when I'll probably be getting new wheels. That will give me enough time to smoke the rubber on these wheels. The reasoning behind putting the 245/45's on this weekend, was, I had a budget of around $2000. It was either get wheels and tires, or get tires, and air bags. Then later on get wheels and tires. Well I got to miss a vehicle with airbags so that’s the route I took, Air bags and tires. So anyone wants to donate some decent wheels : D Anyway, Talk to everyone later. Thinking a 22's up front with 305/45R22, and 24's in the rear with 305/35R24... So that’s where Tax return is going... Around $2200 for this package at Discount tire.

Re: Air Bags

I've got a couple of questions on the CO2 system you plan on running...
Doesn't the tanks need to be vertical(stood up) to p/u the liquid?
I don't think the tanks are 3000 psi either...One of the benefits of running liquid CO2 is lower pressure then say a Nitrogen tank at 2000 psi...but still has the hi volume of the Nitrogen.

Not giving you a hard time, or "baggin" on you...(baggin...get it! ) just sharing info...

Re: Air Bags

Just so you and bdmpastx know I seen where he was saying he could lay frame still on 26's it is possible but you will have to tub the firewall. (bdmpastx I seen in a couple threads where u where talking about wanting 26's just so you will know what you are getting into befor you spend a ton on wheels.)

Re: Air Bags

I won't be getting any 26s...I was just mentioning that I can lay out on 26s. I have the room. It has been test fit. But my setup is different on the front than others using modified spindles.
