Cnallick's SAS Conversion

Well I have had some people on theforum ask me to keep them up to date with the solid axle conversion.
I will list pics as well as the price sheet.
The doner axle is a Dana 44 out of a 99' Dodge 1500 $250

We used 1 1/2" .250 wall DOM tubing for the 4-link arms and 1 1/4" .150 wall for the steering arms $398

The shock are 38.5" FOX 2.5" Coilovers with dual rate springs out the door $1350

We bought all the u joints, brake calipers bearings, and so forth from Auto Zone and have totaled out at $1100

We took the Nissan wheel bearing assembly and shimmed the outer bearing assembly to fit in the Dana 44 hub. We elected to do this so we would have no complications with the ABS. $250 for the shims

We used a 75 Ford Power steering box as the doner steering "copy from WFO" and spicer u joint for steering $350

We used QA1 XMR12 3/4" x 3/4" Heim joints on the axle end with Jhonny Joints on the Frame end for less noise transmission. $275

Weld in bungs from Midwest control $220

Brackes came from Foothill Offroad as well as Silver Offroad which came to $250

I will have pictures for all this stuff as it comes in.
This is completly built by me and 2 of my fishing buddies.

Be sure to get those Foxes tuned or it will ride really, really bad. What spring rates are you running? Sounds like a fun project.

I have been told by WFO to go with 300 over 400, But I get on the swayaway calculator and it ends up 400 and 600? I'm going to call XXX Traction and see what they used if they will release the info.

Thanks for the heads up Greg! The people we bought the shocks from are going to be valving them we went pretty soft, and on the spings we went with 350/500. We called XXX Traction and they used a 350/400 for there rockcrawler Titan. I had a hard time finding a way to weigh the front of the truck after it was tore down.
