Does grinding down the coil bucket lip to get UCA clearance when using spacers affect the integrity or strength of the bucket? Anyone ever have a coil bucket fail or crater after taking the lip off? Thanks.

only one member that I know of has had the coil bucket fail and he runs his truck off road pretty hard. I ground the lip off of my coil buckets and ahven;t had any problems
Then again my truck doesn't go off road

It's rolled for strength. Take away the roll, overall, it will weaken the assembly. You may get lucky. You may not. It's only mechanics and metallurgy.....
well i already purchased the prg upper control arms and i would like to add a spacer ontop of my coilovers which would definatly make me need to grind down my coilbuckets. after looking at the coilbucket it just doesn't seem like grinding the lip off will really cause the whole thing to fail.

+1 for thinking that it is rolled for strength...
i dont think the coilbucket will fail EASILY without the lip...but i definitely think it adds strength, almost how dimple die/flaring works...
thats how i see it anyway
