Re: Safest way to remove the lip on the coil bucket?

get a grinder and grind the lip down. I had to do it on my coil buckets with just a leveling kit. Just be careful not to tag a brake line or the ABS sensor wire while doing this

I have a grinder like this, but I removed the guard and the handle.
Makes it easier to use and work different angles.
Buy the thin composite metal cutting discs and cut through the metal with the edge of the disc.
After you have cut off what you need , grind smooth.
Oh the real answer to your question, be very careful or pay a shop to do it
Small pneumatic grinders are very nice if you have access to one.

grinding the buckets doesn't make them weak?

No if you just grind the lip, then you should be fine
