Titan owners with lift kits

Hello, my name is mike and i own a 2006 Black crew cab titan 4x4. This is my first truck i have bought new and scared to do to many things to it and cause problems down the road, but i would like to install atleast a 6" lift. I have installed a 2.5" front leveling kit and all is fine but time to go a little bigger.
My question is has any one had any problems with there titans after the lift. like broken a-arms, wheel bearings, front or rear drive shaft/cv boots. I realize the kits these days are better than years ago but i would like to know i wont wear out parts any faster or close to the stock setup. I drive mostly highway and its mostly for looks and the once and a while of road travel.
Thanks in advance and if i missed a thread about this somewhere i am sorry and could use the link to it.

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

I have an 06 Titan too with a 6" Procomp lift. No problems what so ever after 10,000 with the lift. Get a good quality kit and either install yourself if you have the knowlege or get a reputable installer and all should be good. There are many different options that you could go with as well, just ask and I'm sure you'll get all the answers you need.

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

Parts I've installed are in my signature.... 50,000 miles since install. Had a wheel bearing fail about 1000 miles after installation, which I do not attribute to the lift, as they have been fine since. The biggest, most common issue with the 6" kits are breaking transmission mounts. They are extremely easy to replace, but are like $80. The common fix to prevent this failure is a set of traction bars, most have used the ones available from PRG Products, although several other options do exist.

The only other item which has failed on me is one of the four CV boots. I cannot say with 100% certainty however that that was a result of the lift.

As far as parts go, I would recommend exactly what I have listed in my signature, and additionally, a set of SAW's in the back, along with a Deaver C30 spring pack and 1" block from PRG Products.

Additionally, I would also recommend the PRG 4" Performance Package for 4x4's.

PRG Products.... call Greg (the owner, installer, shipper, manager, marketing guy, janitor, salesman, & engineer, among other things) he will guide you through exactly what fits your needs. He can be hard to get ahold of, so it's best to reach him at 7AM Pacific Time, when he first is out in the shop.

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

I thank yall kindly, im a motorcycle tech so i have most tools but im not much with dealing in trucks yet, always loved trucks as i also drive a mack with a 53' trailer but just a steeing wheel holder (i dont want to be classified as a prof. as that is to many responabilities lol) and i cant spell. Im glad, knock on wood, that you all havent had any major problems cause i wanna get the money all up and get what i need but cant affored to pay alot of money if it just wears stuff out faster and causes things to bust. I know theres always a chance even if it is left stock. Guess one of other ? was the angle of the cv shafts, everything is pretty good. there not at a bad angle with the 6" lift.
I would hate to get my yamaha supermoto out while its snowing to get to the store . Ive got my pen and paper out and writing down everything in hopes to get a solid kit in one shot and not find out in the middle of it i forgot somthing, i see everyone talking about greg, ill have to give him a call and work up a nice kit.
i may install my self but if anyone knows a shop that will install kits i buy seperate for a decent price around upstate N.Y. (Binghamton) let me know.

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

I dont race supermoto, just bought the bought cause it was different and i dont get to ride off road as much as i want to and this bike still gives me the motocross feel just doing it on the street. Yea im not to big on standerd bolts. Metric is much easier
On a side note, with the procomp kits. they come with brake lines for all 4 corners correct. i havent looked under my truck yet but i thought i saw were some titans had a 5 piece brake line kit, maybe theres 3 in the rear?

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

Yea, I have a problem with a local dealer here wanting to deny warranty work because every problem "is caused by the lift kit" now so I had to start taking it across town to a different dealership.

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

I know how that goes, Bike shop i used to work at was a real stickler bout that stuff Me i wouldnt care, i tried to squeek as much by as i could for the customers.
My local shop has been pretty good to me and the shop formen also has a titan so hopfully things go smooth if anything ever comes up. Ive talked to him many times and he's been cool so far, the past 3 yrs ive owned the truck, Ive been very pleased with the titan as ive only had 1 recall (ac fan) and 1 check of the front end bolts. they always check for that stuff when im there.
But anyways thanks for the imput and sorry that shop gives ya

Re: Titan owners with lift kits

I'm not worried about it. The GM's at both places are good friends of my family. I could just go to the GM of the one that's giving me grief and it would likely all be immediately fixed but I also like the other shop a whole lot so I'll wait to pull that card only when I get into a situation that I'll have to.

The procomp kit only comes with brake lines for the front and a relocating bracket for the rear.

Just like the rest of 'em, and some only come with brake line relocators for the front as well. IMO, you can't go wrong with the ProComp kit.

Stillen sells a complete, 5 piece kit tho... but it's not for lifted applications...
