obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

Well, just bought my first Titan on Friday. a new 2009 XE crew 4x4. absolutely love it! put a 1" rear block in and a front strut extender.... obviously the wrong size. The spacer itself measured 1.5" thick. My upper control arm sits on the coilbucket... doesn't make for the best ride... I have read on here to trim back (grind down) the lip on the coilbucket. Might try that. PRG list UCA for $600. Don't know if I can swing that at this point. Maybe my best bet is to remove the spacer and start over again with a shorter one....
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on how I should move forward. thanks!!

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

Have a machinist turn down the spacer a bit for you on the lathe or grind that KFC bucket.
I've done neither to my truck, just deal with the banging so far. Maybe when it bangs enough both parts will dent up and it will mate smoothly and quetly
you may have the right spacer a 1.5 spacer I believe is what you run on the new 4x's

that can't be right....a 1.5" spacer is supposed to work on a 4x4

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

Yeah but if it's 1 1/2" thick thats too much. I forget the leverage ratio thing but that spacer is for 2+ inches of lift which is too much for the new more level from the factory 4x4s

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

I think the spacer for an '08+ 4x4 is supposed to be smaller. The '08+ is already slightly level. At least compared to my '07 it is.

About the only downside to the PRG UCA is that they make a lot of noise. Frequent lubrication reduces this. Otherwise they are a perfectly functional suspension upgrade that I am quite pleased with.

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

If the actual spacer measures 1.5" thats too much for an 08' 2wd or 4wd. Thats a 2.5" lift and I think the spacer you need should measure 1" or less since 1.5" is max on an 08' 4x4 before the cb will hit.

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

My 04' 2wd spacer was 1.600" tall, with motion ratio yes it worked out to 2.5" of actual lift...

The Titans have some production tolerance issues when it comes to the UCA clearing the bucket...Some clear no problems and of course a few hit...

I also agree a slightly smaller spacer would help, and losing a 1/2" of lift is worth not having any suspension part contact...

Could always get the rough country upper control arms. I think they are only around 190.00. Perfect for spacer lift clearance.

What these guys have already said... u need a different spacer. If you got it from PRG... he may just swap it for you.

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

Thanks for all the info. I am going to look into the rough contry control arms first just for fun. Either way (going with the control arms or a different spacer) it looks like I am going to have to disassemble parts anyway.... I will keep you posted on how it goes.....

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

I talked with rough country today and they do not sell the UCA's seperatly, they only sell them in the 3" leveling kit. It seems cheap so Im not sure about the quality. Im probably going to use the 3" kit along with my Bilstein 5100s and a block in the rear to make it about a 4-5" lift.

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

Keep us updated on this setup. I've thought about going this route, instead of spending three times as much on the Rancho 4" lift that doesn't even come with shocks.

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

I don't think that will work on an 08' 4x4. The .5"-1" that o8' come higher then previous years so I think you will have problems. I would just get a TopGunz 1.5" leveling kit for 80 bucks. Save up and get the Rc 6" or Pc 6" lift or 1.5" levelng kit and a 3" bodylift.

I use the 2.5" Mini Lift on my 08 4x2 and I don't have any Coil bucket issues, even at full droop.

Re: obviously the wrong leveling kit... ;(

i really like the amount of lift the current spacer is giving me. I have the 1" block in the back so it sits really level right now. I don't want to lower the front from this stance. I ordered the Rough country componets to put on my Titan. I will let you know how the UCA are and how easy (or hard) they are to install. Everything should be here tomorrow.
