05 4x lift

I have a 05 4x4 with bilstein 5100's in the front set to the lowest spring preload position with 08 pro x front springs. Any reason i can not use a rough country 3" front kit and a 1" rear block. Please no responses recomending a prg kit. I tried to order a prg kit 3 calls 3 messages with no return call .

Re: 05 4x lift

I say GO FOR IT! I thought about this setup too. I have a set of 5100s waiting for install but I can't decide what to do. Stacking the RC 3" kit on top of Bilstein 5100s set at 1" is a fairly new setup that peeps are starting to do so it's kind of in that trial and error phase ($icktitan was 1st IIRC). I think you'd be the first pre 08 4x4 w/ the 5100s set at 0 w/ 08 coils and the RC 3" kit... It'd be pretty cool if you were the guinea pig and reported back! From my "calculations" it'd be something like 3.25"-4" of lift w/ that setup.

Leveling a pre 08 4x4 w/ 5100s and 08+ coils is about 1.5" give or take

RC 3" kit gives you about 2.5" give or take

Now we have to wait and see how the RC UCA perform with the stacking. I want to know how they handle the 3"+ of lift (coil bucket contact, droop, travel, etc.). If the more expensive UCAs (PRG, Camburg, TC) handle this better I may go with a frankenstein setup. 5100s, 08+ coils, spacer & PRG UCA... or skip the coils and go w/ a taller spacer.

BTW sorry I didn't answer your ?

hehe - I was just playin' with ya.... The RC kit looks pretty sweet from those who've installed it so far.

Re: 05 4x lift

I like the RC setup. I just ordered CST 4'' spindles and I'm going to keep my Rough Country UCA's and spacer but put the bilsteins back down to 0'' preload (~6.5-7'' of front lift). It rides great now, should be even better with no preload!

Re: 05 4x lift

looks like it won't work. I am in the middle of the install and there is severe contact with the coil bucket and not on the lip but the upper side of the bucket and the cross brace below the front mounting piviot. I suspect that the bilstein 5100 is a little bit longer than the stock shock i think i will need a shorter strut spacer the rc spcer is 1.5'' in lengti I bet i need a 1.00'' or 1.25'' spacer
