I don't hear anything after turning it off, but recently I've been getting this strange noise coming from behind the dash on start up. It's hard to describe, but it sounds like something mechanical moving within the dash. Anyone else experience this?

Ever since day one

Virtually every time I shut my truck off (~9 months now), I hear sounds from the dash that are consistently the same - the time it takes for the sounds to start varies from almost immediately to several minutes. The sequence is a couple of very faint ticks follwed by the sound a mechanical movement - almost like electric vents opening or closing. It lasts about 5 seconds and I have always accepted it as normal.

The driver's seat slides back to the exit position, but that's not until the key is removed from the ignition.

I hear it too... and I see it in the gauges (RPM/MPH) they move slightly. It seems harmless to me, but my friend thinks it’s gremlins BTW I don’t have power seats in my truck.

good point about the guages...I had forgot

mine does the same thing - the guages "jump" when the noise goes off.

I just noticed mine doing this yesterday, I figured it was the vent opening for circulation. I keep my AC maxed out most of the year so...maybe it's just now cooling off enough for me to notice

Mine does it to, but I haven't noticed the gauges moving.

If it's doing it on everyone's truck, I'm sure there is a logical explanation for it.

Mine is still doing it immediately after startup, usually after the truck has sat off for a while. It's a strange, almost rattle coming from behind the dash, somewhere between the stereo and column.
