I think I'll get whatever they have there, just as long as they have it in a 5 quart-sized bucket. That way, I'll just have to buy 1 or 2 more quarts. I'll stick to my k&n or wix filter.
My local Wally World carries Mobil 1 5W30 in 5 quart jugs.

Hi all, just my $.02. Have always been a Mobil1 and Amsoil user. Was intrigued by all the hype with Royal Purple so I changed to that at 15,000 mi. Now I have 17,500 on her and if anything my mileage went down and no it's not from hammerin it because of the performance gain Royal Purple claims. I also switched to a K&N air filter, mileage went from 15-15.5 down to 14 or under 14. I find it had to believe any synthetic could get worse mileage than dino oil.
Any thoughts? Back to Mobil1 next change. Always good results with Mobil1 in my '02 Xterra.
i have been using mobil 1 full synthetic all the time i think the gas mileage you speak of could be due to the 10% ethanol additive at most fuel stations. I noticed a difference from winter driving to summer driving.

I religiously change oil every 1500-2000 miles and have used Pennzoil or Castrol or even Chevron 5W-30 (6 qts) + Marvel oil (1 qt); oil filter is regular Fram (whatever is on sale). Since I change oil & filter quite often, I figured that dino oil is fine. I just want the engine clean since it's my daily driver (avg 70 miles/day; hwy & city). On my last oil change, however, I finally tried the Mobil Synthetic 5W-30 (7 qts). I didn't add the usual 1 qt of Marvel Oil - not sure how synthetic oil will react to it. Noticed right away that my truck's gas consumption plummeted from 350 to @305 per full tank! Now I'm, wondering: Is it because it's Winter? Or the omitted 1 qt of Marvel oil? Or the 10% ethanol? Or the synthetic oil itself?
Shell 5W-30, I too use the Marvel oil. I got 360,000 out of my old 86 surburban, so I feed the Titan the same thing.

I wanna be a beach bum! or at least act like it on weekends.
Wow, pages and pages of no conclusion. This is the way the "what's the best oil" threads go everywhere else too.
I've always been a Mobil 1 user and I'll go full sunthetic for my first oil change. I've got 1600 miles on the factory oil, and from what I read about it the earlier you change it the better off you are.
I am going to run Amsoil SSO 0w-30 in the Titan. I will send off for oil analysis every 5000 miles and change it when they say it needs it. I am in construction sales so I will roll up some miles pretty quick. I hit 3000 miles @ every 4-5 weeks.
I run Pennzoil platinum 5w30. It has a lower pour poin than m1 and is 19bucks for 5 qts. I also use the M1 filter. I have done an oil anayalsis and got a great report from my winter time use. I'm sticking with PP untill something changes.
