I think Brons2 posted a cut open filter and it looked good from what I saw. But my local dealer has priced their self out the OEM filter for me, can buy the Pure One for $5.99 at Advance Auto Parts, about three weeks ago the OEM cost me like $7.15 tax included but my dealership is a good 10 miles out of the way also.

Quite the contrary, The regular Purolator ranked up there, in an oil filter study, near the likes of Wix, A/C Delco, and Mobil1. The Pure One filter was better still. I really don't think it matters all that much. I would steer clear of the Fram products though. They ranked lowest of the crop.

Correct, but don't make the mistake of thinking they are the same because they are made by the same company. The can, filter media and endcaps..they are completely different.

I've seen that study a million times, but have you seen this one? They evaluate the filter media for flow characteristics. There is a downloadable spreadsheet. The guys who did it post on BITOG, so you can ask them questions if desired.
