I got a lifetime complimentary dealer oil changes when i purchased the truck. I assume they use the nissan oil filter. I have been using purolator over the years prior to the Titan. But free lifetime oilchanges, i cant be to picky on what filters i would use. To say the least, "it's dealer maintained".
Only problem is......they'll only do 7500 mile oil changes. But yes they'll use Nissan filters.

If anyone still needs oil filetrs I've got a special on them along with other needed parts:
*10 OIL FILTERS
*5 AIR FILTERS
*10 OIL GASKETS
SHIPPED FOR $105.00
Add an In-Cabin Microfilter Kit for $25.00 more.
I think the Amsoil filter probably has the best media and flow, BUT Iam going to stick with the stock Nissan filter until Amsoil decides that their recommended filter is too small. The casing is at least 50% smaller than the stock Nissan. I have faith in Amsoil and their products (been using their oil for 20 years), but this time I think they dropped the ball. Example: their SDF13 filter is the same filter I used on my Honda Goldwing (1.5L 6cyl) and it fits 90% of motorcycles on the road. I just don't think that is enough capacity for a 5.6 L V8.
Just my thoughts.
I have been using Walmart's Super Tech Oil filter (#ST 7317) not just on the Titan but other vehicles as well. I have never encountered a problem and I remember reading a website that gave it a good review, in fact it had a better review than the regular Fram filters. The filters were all cut open ( 5 or 6 in all ) and the Super Tech had no negative reports and was constructed well. The other vehicle I have been using it on is a 2000 Expedition. I do not consider this cutting any corners because 1- It works well, 2- For $2 a great value, 3- I have been changing the oil regularly averaging less than 3k miles per change. If I was going 5k miles or better I might consider a Hastings or Nissan filter. I believe Quaker State was making them for Walmart and they were bought out by Pennzoil. Some co-branded products made for Walmart & Sam's Club are actually made by reputable companies. Case & point: I spent 1 hour on the internet last month and 3 phone calls to finally find out that Del Monte makes Sam's Club canned "Premium Dog Food" This is the same company that makes canned Kibbles & Bits, Gravy Train and 1 or 2 others. Other than meat by products, there is no corn, soy etc and pound for pound and price wise and quality wise you can not beat it. Most importantly, the dogs love it. Del Monte could not tell me, Their consumer Affairs guy did not know until I read the bar code to him. Forgive me for going out on a tangent but it is the point I am after.

I have a question. If your turck engine is still under warranty and you use a filter other than Nissan, and you develop engine problems. Could Nissan void the warranty because you were not using manufacturer approved parts?
I would think the warranty could technically be voided if Nissan could prove that an oil filter was the culprit that caused the damage. But then again, I woulkd really love to know if a large Corp. such as Nissan would be willing to split hairs over certain issues, for instance: the Walmart ST 7317 is only one among 4 or 5 filter brands listed in the official Walmart book found in the oil isle or behind the service counter that show up next to the 2004 Titan. I know that Nissan would sure have a fight on their hands if they tried a number like that with me. I can see them making an issue if I further modified an off brand filter, but if it is a filter officially listed in a reputable book and purchased in good faith, My opinion is that I would have nothing to worry about.

Some Facts On The Walmart "Super Tech" Oil Filter:
Champion Labratories Inc, Engineering Dept conducted efficiency tests with Walmart's Super Tech oil filters and other leading brands. SAE test #HS806 is a Single Pass Efficiency Test showing Super Tech achieving 98%, leading brands 96% and the Other Brands averaging 86%. SAE Test #J1858 is a Multi-Pass Efficiency Test showing Super Tech achieving 99%, Leading Brands 94% and Other Brands averaging 83%. Super Tech Filters are waranteed against defects in design, materials and workmanship. Super Tech Filters satisfy new car warranties when installed according to instructions and replaced at intervals recommended by vehicle and engine manufacturers. 1-Super Tech Filters have a heavy guage steel baseplate which provides added strength and rigidity while withstanding heat and extreme pressure. 2-Nylon centertube allows maximum oil flow and prevents filter media collapse while providind added internal strength. 3-Technolohgically Advanced filter media is superior to leadind brands in trapping micron-sized contaminants and promoting long engine life. Besides using this brand filter on previously owned cars and currently using this brand on the 04 Titan, 2000 Expedition and 86 Monte Carlo, I can attest to the fact they work well and at an average of $2.07 you can't beat it with a stick!

LOL!!
Champion Labs MAKES those filters FOR WalMart.
That being said, I have cut one open and it's a pretty well constructed filter. I would use one in my Titan before many of the other aftermaket brands, especially Fram. At $2.07 it is indeed a great value. However, right now I'm using the OEM filters.
I would keep a close eye on the SuperTech filters as there have been some rumors that they are swtiching over to the Champion E-Core product that has cheap plastic innards. Right now all the ST filters I have see are not Champion E-cores. But keep a close eye out.

dont be so sure....for the longest time i was getting my 97 pathy's oil changed at a stealer and then when i got the TITAN, i decided to change the oil on both. boy was i in for a surprise when i changed the pathy oil! some cheap off brand i never heard of....i think it was ALWAYS SAVE or BEST CHOICE...seriously though it was a cheap POS. so dont assume that you will get a true NISSAN filter w/ an oil change at a stealer. food for thought....
