Another Titan tranny trouble towing thread

I've read some of the threads about overheating trannies. Mine has started doing it since 27K ( 30K on truck now) I've had it to just about the point where it's ready to boil fluid out and still can't get a check code. 4 trips later the dealer says they still can't find an issue and the trans was serviced at 28K Now it went back to the dealer today b/c this weekend it left me on the side of the road and I hd to wait for someone to come get me ( 2 hours) to drive the Jeep home I was towing b/c the trans was running hot and I didn't feel comfortable towing with it anymore. Checked the fluid when I got home and the fluid is still clean. Keep in mind I'm towing a rock crawler and the weight of it and trailer together is around 5500 lbs I've tried towing in all gears with or without the tow mode and it seems that if I get any strain or the slightest incline the trans wants to warm up. I'm beginning to wonder if the problem is due to not enough fluid capacity in the transmission pan. Either way the rep will be at the dealer Friday and I told them not to call me until the guarantee the problem is fixed or either they install a new transmission. Since my truck was serviced last month 4 trucks have gone to this dealer with overheating transmissions. I got smart and was going to install a secondary trans cooler in line with the factory one but was told it may or may not work since they currently had one in the shop with a secondary cooler on it that was running hot. Just wanted to toss this out. I'll update as I hear from the dealer. I'm scheduled to meet with the shop foreman tommorow and the rep on friday

Re: Another Titan tranny trouble towing thread

Not sure...so it towed fine before 28k?

I tow a trailer that weigths about 6500 lbs...and I towed it from CA to South Dakota and back and had no issues. I've done alot of towing here in CA.....no issues.

So I sure hope something don't happen. I wonder if you have a cooling tube clogged or something?

I'm not sure what the capacity is. I dunno.....could the temp gauge be reading incorectly?

If you are boilig the fluid, the dealer should not need a code to tell him there is a problem. One would think you tranny fluid would be pretty burnt or at the leat off color.
