Brake Controller Install without Big Tow

I have an 08 and need to get a brake controller. Is it plug and play if I get a prodigy with the harness and I don't have the big tow package? I had U-Haul install a hitch for me already. Thanks.

The plug up under the dash should still be there if you're SE or LE trim. I can't remember if it is on an XE or not.

Re: Brake Controller Install without Big Tow

xe is absent, but Carbeaux is right about the rest. It should be tucked up above the emergency brake pedal, maybe even taped in place around some other harness, but the open plug is usually visible.

Only the 2004 XE did not come with it.

All Titan have the plug now.

Don't forget the tow relays, and a trailer plug for lights at the rear if U-Haul didn't do that.

Re: Brake Controller Install without Big Tow

You need two things. Prodigy, and the Titan/Prodigy specific harness. Plug and play. 15 minute job, tops. Most of that time is finding the plug under the dash and figuring out where you want to put the Prodigy. Mine is down by my right knee, same as for most folks, I think.

Re: Brake Controller Install without Big Tow

It's not there, that's why you can't find it. I, too, have an 04 XE, and didn't have one either, and I even have the "popular package", still no plug.

You'll either have to wire it up yourself, or have it wired by a pro, mine cost me $40 and I thought that wasn't too bad.

so even if i have the factory pigtail with the loose ends its useless? just my luck! you had to cut it in the factory harness and tie in there? and i thought this was gonna be difficult! LOL

Re: Brake Controller Install without Big Tow

My 2010 SE has the plug under the dash for the brake harness, but no power out of it. Brought it to the dealer and they told me because I have an se and don't have the tow package, that it's just a dummy plug and the truck will have to be hand wired???? The relays are in place and the dealer said they talked to nissan and that is what they said.
