Question about the tow light fuse blowing problem?

Hey guys, first off HUGE thanks for past posts discussing this topic in great detail. I've been turned down from Uhauls before because my trailer running lights weren't functioning (only brakes and turn signals, but having my headlights on wouldn't activate running lights).

Anyways, thanks to you all I found the blown 10a fuse in the big fuse box next to the smaller fuse box by the battery and will be buying several spares during my lunch hour.

So question, how common is this problem? And why has it happened to a bunch of us? Poorly maintained trailer wiring at rental places? Is the fuse rating a bit too low? And most importantly, has anyone that has replaced the fuse had it blow again afterwards?

Thanks all!
mike

Our fuse blew because of a pinched wire on a brand new boat trailer. The wire to a fender marker light got caught between the frame and leaf spring when they mounted the spring. A simple snip and butt connector, no more problems.

I have not had this problem and my camper has 18 clearance lights. I think it was a fluke thing.

Strange... I guess this is one of those things that just happens to a few people every once in a while. Thanks all!
