Prodigy brake controller help.

Those of you on the forum that have installed the Prodigy brake controller, where have you found to be the best place to mount in under the dash? Thanks for you input in advance.

Does it get in your way there and are you able to reach it if you need to manually apply the trailer brakes in an emergency to help straighten the trailer out?

I am having the same problem and haven't found a good spot to put it where it is easily accesible to allow you to hit it manually if you need it while at the same time being out of your way.

Karl -

If you don't mind saying, how much did your 22H set you back?

I'm planning on buying a Komfort 23T, which has a very similar floor plan to your 22H. From what I've read (haven't seen an Arctic Fox up close yet), Nash is one of the best quality units around - Komfort is also high quality.

It doesn't get in the way at all and I can reach the manual brake very easily.

Austin, list price on our unit was $20,500 and we were able to get it for $17,800 with taxes (8.5%) and license included (the dealer also provided 2 batteries and 2 full 30 lb propane tanks). We are very happy with the Fox, and with it being a 4 season trailer we can take it out any time of the year without worrying about the tanks freezing up. Aside from the quality and styling of the unit which we liked the best, I've heard some amazing stories of Northwood's outstanding customer service which was the final decision maker for us.

Thanks Karl.

That's about the same list price as the Komfort 23T I'm looking at. This'll be my first TT.

I have one more request, if it's not too much trouble...

Would you take of picture of yourself (or have your wife snap a pic) sitting in the driver's seat - specifically, I'd like to see how close your knee is to the Prodigy - how much legroom you've lost.

Karl

I dug up the mount like you are using since I had previously mounted mine using a metal bracket. It does fit nicely in that spot, no interference and with the snap in mount it pushes it out to where you can reach it easier.

Thanks for the idea. Now if it ever stops raining here I'll get it mounted.

This was our first TT as well. Our 4 year old son absolutely loves it. We looked for a long time before we decided to finally buy.

I'm a shorter guy so I have the seat sitting closer to the dash than most guys do and I still have about 4-6 inches between the Prodigy and the middle of my shin. There is a flat lip that runs along the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel that works perfect for mounting. I've seen others that have mounted it on the left side near the hood release but I like to drive with my left hand and use the manual brake with my right. I would wait until you get your truck and see what is most comfortable for you.

Good luck with your TT decision. I posted a link to another RV forum site in a separate thread that is great for any topic related to RV'ing. I would highly recommend looking at it before and after you buy.

Also installed the Prodigy in the location shown in previous postings using the pocket mount - it allows one to easily reach down and pull the lever in a right to left motion.

I like to get to the Open Roads forums from rv.net instead of from Goodalls, but they're the same forums. http://www.rv.net/forum/Index.cfm

I've been lurking there for about the last two months. I just got some work done on my foot, so I'm in a cast for a couple months... I've been reading the Open Roads forum for about 10 hours a day...

There is definitely a bunch of knowlege over there - I get more excited every day to get my TT.
