Titan Towing

Many asked me to post a pic towing the 5th wheel.

I know some of you think I am crazy, but my dealer called the Nissan engineer and they reviewed the specs on the trailer and assured me this would be ok and safe.

we really don't go far anyway. very short trips.

I thought it would be terrible, but it is not bad.

We have some getting use to, because we have never owned a 5th wheel, but it tows just fine.....have to make sure the tow buttoon is pushed, though, because it changes the shift timing.

At this point, we certainly would not go through the mountains, but it's fine for what we do.

That looks insane....I hope it all goes well for you...hope you dont have to stop fast. Keep in mind though....my 1 ton chevy van had a tow capacity at around the same as the 1/2 titan....so as long as your payload is not exceeding the limit (and it appears not) it should do fine even throught the hills...in fact my 1 ton van had a 454 with less HP (more torque but the tranny sucked) and I towed a 10,000 lbs 27'+ Toy Hauler(fully loaded with water and bikes) up and over major passes with no problems (stopped slow so I had to plan ahead more). good luck...at least if anything breaks on the truck, it will be covered under war.

Crazy no, mad as a hatter yes!
Don't feel bad, there's another loony on this board who tows a boat the size of the Titanic with his Titan!

But seriously, the fact that the Titan can tow these enormous loads is testament to the Titan's grunt and capability. I'd be very interested to see what that thing weighs also.

Cheers,
...Colin

Several years ago my dad pulled a large 5th wheel with a v8 dacota all over colorado with no problems. if that little dacota could do it, your titan should walk away with it. besides your pic looks more normal. The dacota always looked like a midgit compared to the trailer

Hi Bill

Good looking setup!!!!!

What is the pin weight of your fifth wheel? Did you install any upgrades on your Titan rear suspension? I will be taking my 5th wheel out next week for the first time with my Titan King Cab LE. My 5th is a Jayco 28ft dry weight is 6,859 lbs. Looking forward to a great summer. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Regards

Re: Titan Towing

Do any of you know if we are able yet to pull a 5th wheel with a crew cab?

Re: Titan Towing

yes you can pull a fifth wheel with the crew cab... you have to have a superglide hitch and you have to pull your tailgat off... I just purchased a 24 foor wildcat fifth wheel... dry weight is 6900 pounds... fully loaded is almost 8000 pounds... put airbags on the truck and a digital brake controller... just got back from the first trip and it pulled great... went a total of 250 miles... and went up one canyon where we went from 6500 feet of elevation to 9800 feet of elevation.. I had to shift into four wheel low... but other than that it was a great trip...
