Trailer wireing question

I have a titan se, I am looking under the bumber and I see a wire harness that is capped off, what iis or what part i guess i wuold need would be the wire harness that goes in to that connector to make the connection universal for the tralier 7 pin. thanks

From what i have been reading the chevey wiring works is this correct? I am assuming it is the 7pin oem connector to the 7 pin standard connector i need,

Wiring

Go to etrailers.com, they have the receiver hitch, and the wiring plug you will need. You also will need two relays to make the running lights and the trailer brake controller work if you need this option. I found etrailers had the best price when I bought mine, and had the hitch and wiring in stock. The relays have to be bought at a dealer, $50.00 for both.

Relays

That connector from the etrailer.com site is the correct one for the Titan.
If you don't get the big-tow package with your titan, you don't get the receiver hitch, the connector, or the two relays. One relay allows power to the wiring harness for the running lights on the trailer. The other one sends power to the electronic brake controller wiring underneath the dash next to the steering wheel housing. The running light relay is $17.00, the other is $29.00. I think you could just buy the $17 one to get running lights, if you aren't using a brake controller (heavy towing). The relays go in the relay box that is right behind the battery underneath the hood. There is only one place each relay fits inside the relay box, they just snap in. If you are towing with your bumper, all you would need is the wiring connector and the $17.00 relay.
25230-79964 ($29) and 25230-79945 ($17) are the Nissan part numbers for these two relays.

The $17 relay allows voltage to be sent to the wiring harness to operate the running lights on the trailer when you turn the headlights on your truck.

On my truck I have a class IV receiver hitch, the seven pin wiring connector for the trailer wiring, and two relays behind the battery in the relay box. I likely didn't need the more expensive relay, since I won't be using an electronic trailer brake, my boat weighs about 4,000 pounds.

Trailer Running Lights

Guys, thanks for this good information. I have the XE Titan.
I just bought a Reese Hitch, the Plug in connector from Nissan, but the running (parking) lights were not working. This was confusing since the brake lights and the turn signals DID work. So, I spent one hour checking all the wiring on the trailer, thinking something was not grounded or connected correctly. I finally checked the towing connector with a 12 volt tester and realized that there wasn't any juice flowing. I looked through the Nissan manual briefly, but didn't see anything there. Thanks for the part numbers as well, KYDeepwater.

I have the '04 XE Crew Cab and my brother in law has the same optioned truck in the king cab. Mine had the relay for the trailer lights and his did not. He checked with his dealer and they told him that it automatically came with the crew cab. So did the power windows and locks. That was a nice freebie I got.

Also as far as the wiring connector, I suggest you just go to Wal Mart and buy it there. It is made by Hoppy and it is the same connector as the Ford and Chevy trucks believe it or not. If you are lucky enough to get the newer packaging it will say it is for the Nissan Titan also. My brother in laws was the old packaging but it is the same thing. I believe it was like $24.95.
