I just bought a trailer hitch from nissan for my titan, I also bought the reciever from titan. The reciever is a little loose fit on the hitch and when i pull the trailer it bounces alot. all you can here is ' bam bam bam " Please tell me what I can do to fix this. I cant handle listening to " Bam Bam " the hole time i am pulling. The only time i dont hear it is when i am on a completly smooth road. Far and few between

It must be a Nissan thing. The hitch I have on my Xterra does the same thing. It's maddening listening to it.

I don't know how you will fix that, they all do that. The only thing you could do is wrap something around the insert before you put it in.

There is a company (or two) out there that sell receiver adapters that have four lock down bolts on each side of the receiver. You slide your receiver into this adapter then tighten down the bolts and no more rattle. Try searching for them online, I know the Performance Products catalogs used to advertise them.

Funny, mine was so tight I had to grind a good bit of steel from the shaft of the ball mount. It still does not bang.
In your case, possibly a "cushioned" ball mount will help damp the impacts.

Cabela's sells an Anti-Rattle Hitch Bracket for $12.
It tightens between the receiver and hitch bar so
there is no independant movement. I use one on
my wife's RX330 and it works. I don't have the problem
on the TITAN as the hitch bar fits a bit tighter than
on her vehicle.

Another way to fix this is to weld a bead on your hitch and grind it down until it slides in your receiver and has a snug fit. Alot of trailer companies do this and repaint the hitch.
Just my .02 cents.

Good Luck.

sounds like the tongue weight on the trailer might be a little lite. I have one small very light trailer that the hitch plays a symphony on but when i hook up to my 16 ' flatbed no noise.

My thoughts exactly the same as Mick‘s3643.
Perhaps you have room to move the bunks forward for a bit more tongue weight without making it making it fishtail?

How did it go?

Mine is the same way.. I've tried a few different receivers and they all seem to have some issues.. I see the anti-rattle one and that might be what is needed. The same receiver works great in my friends f250, but in mine it's like a rattle trap.

If I may ask, what was the cost of the hitch/receiver and install price? I'm looking at a new Titan am also wondering whether or not to get the tow package as I do some occasional towing, but not sure if the tow package price is worth it. Thanks.

I paid roughly 240 w/tax, from a nissan dealer. I know I could have found it cheaper, but I needed it for the weekend. Easy install, took me and a buddy 15 minutes, came with all the relay's too. This route will save a little money expecially if your only doing occasional towing.

I Ordered The Reciever Bolts And Did Not Work. The Only Fix That I Could Find Was To Have The Reciever Welded. It Is Great Now. No " Bam Bam Bam ". I Have Had Several Hitches From Draw Tite To Hidden Hitch All Was Great. I Have Tried Several Different Options From Wraping To Different Recievers And Nothing Works On The Hitch From Nissan. It Has To Be Another One Of Those Special Nissan Things
