Noise Level While Towing

I used my Titan to tow my travel trailer for the first time today. I noticed that the exhaust noise level was quite a bit higher when cruising at 50-55 even though the engine didn't seem to be working that hard. My theory is that the trailer reflects the exhaust "roar" back towards the cab so that it just sounds louder.

Any thoughts?

Iv'e really not noticed it, as I usually have the windows up.
Your therory about the camper reflecting the noise sounds logical though.

Mine is the same, I figured it was the engine under more load. In my case the trailer is about 6000 lbs. I like the deeper sound, almost makes me want to add the Banks exhaust.

You are putting a lot more exhaust energy out also.

The reflecting idea is probably correct, but you are also putting out at least twice the exhaust volume-energy(noise).Judging from the mpg,(7-10 mpg hy)folks towing a 6000 lb load use about twice the power.Depends,on the weight, and the drag of the load, but the increased gas used means increased power, means increased exhaust, increased noise.Charlie
