Trailer tow Question

Manual says, " No trailer towing until after 500 miles" also "For the first 500 miles that you tow a trailer do not drive over 50 mph. Now the way the manual reads (p. 9-22 ). It doesn't matter whether you have 500 or 5000 miles on your truck, your first 500 miles of trailer towing should not be more than 50mph.Am I understanding this correctly ? Are they for real ? For some peaple this could be a whole summer.

O.K. News to me. This is the first brand new tow vehicle I have purchased in over 20 yrs. Come to think of it. First brand new vehicle since "89". I did it up right though. New 04 Titan and an 05 Altima for the wife.

Picked them both up on the same day. Bought the four door sedan. It's the basic se model with a 2.5 engine. Traded in a " turd " disguised as a "99" Chevy Tahoe. We pretty much needed two new vehicles though. My other car is a 97 Ford van that is equipped with a chair lift for one of our kids. We only use that when we need to. Want to keep the miles off it and hopefully get another 6 yrs out of it. We wanted something that got more than 12 miles a gallon. My wife and I put a combined 68000 miles on the Tahoe in less than 3 yrs. Now with both the Titan and the Altima, the Titan might get 6 or 7k miles a year. The rest on the Altima.
