hitch wiring harness

I just purchased my Titan an XE king, bare bones. I had the dealer install a hitch. No problem right but they didn't give me a harness to connect the trailer lights. On the factory hitch is a Different connector than I have ever seen. I guess I need to get a harness to connect to this and have the correct connection for my trailer. I bleive the trailer is a four or five pin type connector . Any recomendations on what I'm looking for and where to get it?

I got the 7 pin to 4 adapter that works with the standard 7 pin trailer wire connector found on the Big Tow package.

I don't know exactly what you are talking about. Are you saying they installed a hitch without any wiring connector at all? I think you also need a couple of relays.

Did the dealer install a hitch for you, or was it an aftermarket hitch? If it's a Nissan, you might have gotten the 7 Pin (is it round or flat)? If it is round, you have the 7 pin connector - if your trailer is 4 pin (flat) you'll need an adaptor. Check your fuse box in under the hood to see if you have the relays - I'll bet you don't . My SE did not have the relays, so I bought both for Trailer Lights 1 and 2(see the fuse box). Now I guess I can also install an electric brake system. You also need to make sure that you have the wiring needed for your trailer lights. I'm not sure if the XE is pre-wired.

Supposedly it is wired. I'll have to check the fuse box though. the hitch is a factory one from nissan with the round style connection on it. The salesman said I should go to U-Haul for the wiring harness. Where did you get the relays from? Is it just a simple plug in, install?

On your original question, as Bestatches said, all you need is a 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor. The factory hitch comes with a 7 pin, and it sounds like your trailer is a 4 pin type. You can buy the factory adaptor or from a place like Walmart.

As for the relays, the factory hitch comes with them, so I'm pretty sure your dealer installed them when your hitch was installed. Easy to check though: look in your fuse box, next to the battery. The lid of the fuse box has labels to show the spots for the 2 trailer fuses. I believe they're labelled "Trailer 1" and "Trailer 2."

On the 'wiring harness,' are you referring to the harness for the brake controller? If so, don't bother buying one because Titan XE's do NOT have the brake controller wiring preinstalled. Nissan put out a TSB that states this. You'll have to have the brake controller custom wired in, which is what I had to do with my Titan XE.

The Trailer Wiring Kit that I have is the Hoppy 41155. It shows on the package that it is for Chev, GMC, Olds, Cadillac - but it is also for the Titan. A 2 second install is all it takes. It plugs directly into the factory wiring.

Thanks for the 411 guys. I do have the relays so thats all set. I'm only towing a 19 foot boat so no trailer brake is required. I'll check out walmart for the adapter thanks again.

I found the adapter you are looking for at my local Tractor Supply Company (TSC). Local Walmart didn't have what I needed nor did U-haul.
