4X4 drop hitch "drop" length????

Just got my 04 TITAN 4X4, this is my first 4X4 by the way.
So how far is your drop hitch? Going to get it installed tomorrow and need to know what to buy.
Thanks!

Depends on what youre towing I guess and how it sits. I have a 2" that I took from my last truck because it worls fine with my ATV trailer. It's not really too picky on how its' towed like a big heavy trailer might be.

Yeah, same here. I have a heavy duty equalizer hitch when I tow my camper, it's adjustable and I have it set for 4 inches, but when I tow my utility "ATV" trailer I use a 2" drop. It would level out better with a 4" but like onebadSE said I also already had a 2" from my previous truck and this trailer isn't picky.

Towing a enclosed 6x12 interstate cargo trailer. Sounds like 4" would be right.

Tow a 20' Nash with my 4x4. I have a reese hitch which you can adjust. Mine is at 4" for my trailer for level towing.

I have a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer for hauling bikes. I used a 5 1/2" drop and it sits just pretty level.

I also have a 6X12 enclosed trailer used for hauling bikes. With one bike in the bed, and two in the trailer w/gear, and est. 200 pounds tongue weight, the trailer sits level with a 5.5" drop hitch. Without the bike in the bed, trailer is a tad higher in front, but nothing anyone but me would notice.

But, it all depends on the trailer. I would go with anything from 4 to 5.5.

Easy way to check it, put the trailer level, and measure the height of the trailer tongue to the ground. Then go to the truck, and measure the receiver to the ground, the difference is the amount of drop you need. Or, you can do like I did, just back the truck up next to the level trailer tongue, and 'eyeball' the amount of drop it needed. Might not hurt to get your buddy to stand in the bed to simulate a 200 pound toungue weight, if you want to get really tight with this here 'bonafide' measuring technique.

Thanks guys! My problem is I don't have the trailer yet....back ordered. My business requires red trailers.... I got a 6" today. If I need less that I can get at Wal Mart.
Again thanks for the input!
