Looking for trailer advise

I am in search of a new enclosed trailer, my question is ........... the difference between leaf spring and torsion (SP) axles. I mainly will be hauling furniture and misc estate items, locally with moderate hi-way driving. I have heard positve and negative aspects from dealers and need actual opinions from others

Thanks for any input you may offer............... And have a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

I'm not a pro about this but my opinion would be for your uses you'de be better with the torsion axles. They will give you a much smoother ride and in turn not beat up your furniture, etc. The leaf springs are good for more weight. They primarily use torsion on campers now because they are a better ride. Just my 2 cents.

I basically second Q.

The torsion process will probably give you independent suspension advantage as well.

It does ride smoother. Handles better in turns and over bumps.

One high point with leaf springs is that if you need to you can flip the suspension and get high ground clearance, and you can also stiffen the suspension by adding a leaf.

Do get trailer brakes even if the trailer is not going to be very heavy, in inclement weather the brakes on the trailer will keep you out of trouble (snapping tail during turns and stops).

Electric and or hydraulic brakes are a whole lot better than surge brakes in my book. Look at brake controllers some are very sophisticated, and would come in handy if you decide to tow bigger trailers down the road.

If you upgrade with LED tail lights you can easily add more lights without having to worry about using up a lot of current.

Torsion all the way, especially if you'll be moving light loads from time to time. An empty or light load on leaf springs will look like your pulling a pogo stick around.
