I have 25', 7000-lb UVW Thor Jazz coming in 2 weeks. With a fully loaded truck (people and gear) and trailer I'm going to be over the recommended payload capacity by as much as 200-lb (but under the GVWR and GCWR) and I'm not sweating it one bit. I have a great weight distribution hitch and sway control setup and a great brake controller, and I know several people pulling more trailer than I am without any problems.
Also you can get the air bags to help out greatly with that extra payload weight.

This seems to be up for debate. I am considering installing airbags as I will be towing a 29' TT with a tongue weight of 773 and a dry weight of #6,100 with #1,200 WD hitch and anti sway. Somewhere else I read that the airbags are only for leveling while towing as the axle is still not rated to carry a higher payload thus not increasing your payload. Like I said, I am considering this mod and to hear you say it will increase my payload gives me a little hope. Feedback?

30' Trailer towed by a Nissan XE KK

Pulling a Flagstaff 30' tip to tip, 5200lbs. No big tow, added mirrors and hitch. Added Aluminum Diff. Cover with synthetic oil. Pulls great, drop that baby into 3rd on steep grades. Adding a trans. gauge to be safer. Great truck so far.

Air bags can increase payload up to the axle load rating or tire load rating (or some other limiting factor) but not beyond. I'm assuming the frame and the bed skin and crossmembers can take the extra load, which I'm guessing is only going to be a few hundred pounds. On my '04 4x2 the rear axle rating is 3800-lb.

Air bags are on my to-do list, however I'm at the mercy of the manufacturers right now because nobody makes a set for the 4x2 yet.

Same here, my truck looks nice and level with the trailer attached.

These trucks can haul MUCH more than the figures show. I carry myself, wife, 3 kids and our TT which can weigh anywhere from 6100LBS to 8600LBS depending on how it's loaded up. The truck tows with ease and with the WD hitch, sits stock height in back. So if you want to go buy a 3/4 ton, be my guest, but this truck will tow its maximum 9400LBS AND a full load with no ill effects. Those of us who do it know better. Those of you too busy pushin' numbers and saying "OMG....I'm sceeeeeerd" seem too busy to enjoy their trucks.

Yeah, I have complete confidence in the ability of our truck, even hauling/towing more than the manual states. I even kind of wish I bought the 30' Jazz which weighed 7700-lb. I know the Titan could have handled it.

The truck handels the weight well. My hitch is an RBW extender sliding hitch. It is rated for 15k. I had a hitch dealer do the install and they didn't make any negative comments about the truck and it's stregenth. If memory serves it was their first Titan that a 5th hitch was installed.

moore101,

Kind of off-topic but which RV dealer do you go to? I ordered my Jazz through Giant RV there in Colton. So far I am happy with their service, but I have only dealt with salesman and such. Is this where you go?

Is this the new math? How can you be over the payload limit but under GVWR?

GVWR-empty weight=payload.

The flagstaff is also made by Forest River, the manufacturer I referred to earlier in the thread. Good to see that your XE is doing well with it, that is what I have.

I got mine used in the recycler. I have been to giant rv to get some small parts and their service seems good in the parts department. I also got to country time rv in riverside since they are a forest river dealer (same make as my trailer). Also the best place for NOS and used parts is walt's rv in fontana. They are off valley just west of sierra. It is almost a junkyard just for rv parts but a lot of there stuff is "new" and you can't be their prices.
