Yo
I can 99% guarantee that your tongue weight is too light. Your trailer tongue is VERY long. (I had a similar Bayliner) also you say it feels light.

Been towing very heavy toys for a long time and my first thought from the picture was, "Wow that tongue is long, I'll bet his Tg is light" Then after reading your posts and comments I am sure.

Th weight distributing hitch is for heavy tongue weights. It shifts some of the weight toward the back of the trailer.

Many ways to det ermine tongue weight, and if yo have a really good RV dealer around they may have a special tongue weight scale that makes the job very easy.

Good luck

Re: Towed "The Boat" yesterday

IMHO the trailer looks beat. Get a new trailer, easier said than done, like a web on or float on. It piches the nose up higher a bit and allows the boat to sit closer to the truck. I have a 230CC sea fox. I have to check periodically to not forget i am towing it. Titans pull like a champ!

That's something as my Pop Ups tongue weight of 350 lbs dropped my Titan hitch receiver about 3". It leveled the truck completely out which had intially a 2.5" higher rear suspension.

The Pathfinder's hitch receiver drops less at 2" with that same 350 lbs tongue weight but the suspension is stiffer with the rear suspension being level with the front. The rear suspension at the axle sags 1" with the PUP's tongue weight where the Titan's sagged 1 5/8" but the rear suspensions higher height leveled the Titan. The Titan's front suspension raised 13/16" while the Pathfinders raised 1/2".

I had a 4X4 Off Road XE Crew Cab w/o the E-Locker. No big tow but had the lower 3.36 gears.

The Pathfinder is rated for a 600 lbs tongue weight while the SE Titan (my Off Road XE had everything and more than an SE) is rated at 750 lbs tongue weight. The extra 2.5" in height on the rear suspension must obviously allow for that extra 150 lbs while keeping a cushy ride quality. Both tongue weights were rated with a weight bearing hitch, not a weight distribution hitch.

BTW, the recommended tongue weight on a trailer is 10% minimum and 15% maximum. Otherwise trailer sway can happen if tongue weight is to light or to heavy plus loss of steering if tongue weight is to heavy.

Have a good one.
