I figured this load out to be around 2000-2200 lbs. As you can see, it was sagged out as much as possible. I would not recommend doing this again. I cannot remember exactly how much of each I had, but it was mulch and landscaping brick. I had to open up the back and load on the floorboard too. Didn't feel like another trip to Home Depot.

BAT1, that pic you posted looks very familar. my truck droped all the way down when i got a yard and a half of pea stone for around my pool. i used my truck since it was only a 2 mile trip. deffiently saged alot but was not boat-ish in handling and had no problem getting up to the 40mph speedlimit

This topic always cracks me up... just because the truck will still roll down the street with 3000lbs. in the bed, it doesn't mean it's okay.... you could also turn off your hairdryer each morning by jumping in the tub with it.... The GFI will probably turn it off but it's not real smart... I am getting reinforcement as to why I don't buy used trucks.... I personally wouldn't go much over 1000lbs.... especially for the proposed 700 miles.

i'm new to trucks and i thought the payload would be much higher considering the tow weight with the big tow package is 9500 lbs. i transported 19 cinder blocks (i wasn't quite sure how much they weigh but a website said around 37 lbs) and 10 60lb concrete bags.

originally, we purchased 60 cinder blocks and the guy at the hardware store started loading the whole pallet of 60 into my truck. the tailgate was down and he kinda rubbed the tailgate a bit scratching the end. this wasn't a big deal to me since, after all, it is a TRUCK. anyways, when he was slowly loading the pallet down, the whole back end was dropping and part of the load was on the tailgate, he never dropped the whole thing down though. i told him to forget it and that we'd just load them by hand. they kinda protested this because they were closed already. we ended up loading the 19 cinder blocks while he retrieved the bags of concrete.

(19 x 37 lbs) + (10 x 60 lbs) + 295 for passengers = 1598 lbs

engine had absolutely NO problem. the rear end sagged a bit. i drove the load about 2 miles.

I think that that refers to the weight that the tailgate can have pressed against it and not break loose as in it is closed and falls open cause there is too much weight.
