Smile 1st tow 33.5' Rockwood

Pretty new at this forum stuff so be patient with me. Finally took my 33.5 foot Rockwood trailer for a 50 mile tow on I-95. Spectacular!

Titan XE KC with little tow and Century topper...Equal-izer hitch 1000#, Prodigy brake controller, extention mirrors. Took 2 hours to get the hitch set up right and set the brakes.

Break in is 50 mph for first 500 miles of towing. but it kept creeping up to 65 with tow/haul mode and 4th. Temperature gauge never budged...94 degrees outside. Big semis blew by me and no sway at all! Just seemed like it wanted to run and I had to hold it back.

Trailer weight is 5970 dry and I figure close to 7000 wet with full water, propane, and all the other gear.

Leaving next week for Rochester, New York, so will have more to say after that trip..........Floridatitankid

Unlike others, great!! Glad to see you are comfortable towing, but why not the Big Tow package? A "little tow" meaning a smaller package?? If so, just be careful. I tow a bass boat with mine--don't even know it is behind me, the truck just pulls so easily....

Bought the truck before the trailer. May have to take it easy but have plenty of time to get there!. The Rockwood has rubber torsion independent suspension which helps sway.

Hey kid, if it isn't a boat trailer then I don't know what the he** torsion independent suspension and all that other stuff is!!! Just glad you enjoy the truck and doing the towing that you want to do without shelling out for a 3/4 ton truck. A Century topper--is that a camper shell or bed cover??

Glad you have the same experiance most of us have while towing. While I'm haulin' a 28 footer, we're currently looking at a new 32' TT. Piece of cake.

big tow

Well boys, I tow about the most weight here. !0,000lbs of Mako 293 offshore fishing boat. Just got back from the Keys. About a 170 miles. Trailer is triple axle with surge brakes on all three axles. Not a lick of trouble. Ran 60-65 mph. Hell of a truck...Impressed all my friends. My buddy doesn't even want to pull ramps with his ford expedition and his 25 foot dusky. He wants me to pull it out with my Titan. You will do great towing to New York. Consider the Hellwig Sway bar---makes big difference (available at $175 from hellwig for titan talk) and the airlift airsprings. I have both and they make a big difference!

Now me being a bass fisherman, you failed to mention one thing----Did you catch any? What were they? Live bait/trolling/SHARKS(?), etc...

tow setup

The easiest way to see the air bags is to do A SEARCH for th airlift airbags. This is the setup im using. Also, the swaybar pics are under heelwig. The hitch is a solid bar 10,000 lb drawbar with a 2 3/4" ball. All standard stuff. Also I run the PRG front. My brake recall/upgrade should be done soon as Nissan gets the parts.

Floridatitankid,

Are you also aware that without the big tow package, your tow limit is down to only 7200 LBS? I only mention it because you made a remark about a "little tow" package.
