New Brake Controller

Hi guys, as I stated in my last post, I traded the Titan in for a SE Pathfinder due to my continuous problems with the Titan.

I had a Draw-tite Activator 2 on the Titan which was alright which was recommended to me by the dealer. The local dealer also carries the Valley Odyssey which is said to be the best available, even over the Prodigy. He didn't recommend it before because it was not proven. The local dealer use to sell Prodigy in their early days. The local dealer had a lot of problems due to the bugs in the prodigy and didn't want to start recommending the Odyssey until he was comfortable with it's reliability. Obviously, the Prodigy has the bugs worked out now, but no one in my area sells the Prodigy, perhaps because of the problems they earlier had.

Now my Dealer does say the Valley Odyssey is a great controller just that it's not proven in reliability yet. Even states with it's new double-axis accelerometer technology, that it is technically better than the Prodigy.

Does anyone have experience with the Odyssey and is it really better than Prodigy?? Funny thing is at etrailer is offering Tekonsha wiring harness' for it here .

I guess I need to know which is the better so I know if I should waste my time tracking and driving, looking for a Prodigy.

Also with the Prodigy, or even Odssey, will their Nissan harness fit the new 2005 Pathfinder's wiring harness??

Thanks in advance guys and have a good one.

Actually I'm a member of that forum but no one had any experience with the Odyssey.

I did however find out from Mike, the forum moderator who is a wealth of information beyond explanation, that the Odyssey has 2 mechanical pendulums (as they call dual accelerometers) instead of the Prodigy's electronic solid state accelerometer. Doing a google search, I found his findings on the POPUP Explorer forum.

I'm going to get the Prodigy. Thanks for the information.

Have a good one.

We have the Prodigy and will never go back to mechanical-based controllers. We've had four different ones, and they all pale in comparison. The Prodigy will even control your brakes when backing up.

It's worth the money. Nice linear control, and we have 8,000 towing miles on ours.

The Prodigy is also a very easy install with the Titan.
