Anybody else run into this? My owner's manual ('04 CC 4x4) says you are not to carry a cabover camper on a crewcab... Huh?!? That was one of the reasons I bought it-- to carry a camper cross-country. Does anyone have information on why Nissan would say this regarding the crew cab? Any theories? Any solid reasons why it wouldn't be a good idea to do this? I'm bummed... gotta have that camper for fishing and hunting...
Mike
I'd guess it to be do to the shorter box and the extra weight. Buy a TT.

Dude,
They make lite models that will work with a Titan CC. I would get some airbags for the rear, and go for it! I am also considering doing this in the future. For example, here are some that would work. It might over hang 6 inches or so but it will work. http://www.sunvalleyinc.com/

It's better to have it and not need it, Than need it and not have it!"
Also dont start your engine....It causes engine wear which can eventually lead to engine failure in the distant future!!!
I would'nt worry to much about it. You can mod any truck to carry a camper. Go for it if you can find one to fit it properly.
The manual also says dont pull a 5th wheel to but alot of guys pull one with no prob.

I can't imagine one of those campers fitting in the rear of my CC anyhow. BUT....if you can find one and it's withing the capacities of the bed, why not?!

I believe there is also a new bed hitch for fifthwheel towing for short bed fullsize trucks. It slides itself back via a camming action on turns and back up as it goes back to neutral stright again. Just saw it on a RV show. Slightly off subject I know.

Thanks, guys, for all the input on a cabover camper... you basically confirmed my guess re: owner's manual cautions.
deTitan, what-- if any-- mods did you add for carrying your camper? I know it's a light one (from the looks), but did you beef up the shocks/ springs, etc.? And does anyone have recommendations regarding airshocks for carrying a camper? I did this years ago with great results. I've got a heavy, older camper, and am too cheap to buy one of the high-end newer (and lighter) ones. Thanks,
Mike
That is not mine. I have a sliver cc 4x4.. That one of off the camper manufs web site.
I was happy to find it for a friend. Many here have added either a helper spring or airbags.
For off the beaten track camping or exploration the cab over may be a good thing, but for generic camping etc. Personally I would go with a trailer or a fiver given my current life cycle etc.
Currently I have a diesel classA which is not getting the usage it should.
Recently I saw an aluminum flat trailer with a truck camper affixed to it and under the cab-over section they had two quads tied down! It was really nice, the trailer provided a deck or patio to the camper when the quads were off!

Thanks for the input, DeTitan. I'm not sure I want to haul a trailer clear across the country, which is one of the many plans we have for our CC. Plus, I already have the camper... in any case, I will at least use the cabover for hunting/ fishing trips and short forays. Most of my camping is in pretty remote/ inaccessible country. Still, I'm gonna look into a smaller travel trailer for the big trip. Meanwhile, anyone have a good source for airbags?
Mike

Go take a look at www.timbren.com they make quality products.
Good luck.
