What class hitch?

I am going to be towing my truck out and am wondering if a class 3 hitch ball mount will be fine? I dont think I am going to tow anything substantially bigger. I was thinking class IV but the price between a class 3 hitch ball mount and a class IV weight distribution mount is substantial. Where are you guys getting your class IV ball mounts? Lastly what drop are you guys using? My titan is stock and the most it would get lifted is 2" in the rear down the line. Thanks

Re: What class hitch?

I gather that the truck would be on a trailer of some sort. That's what would dictate what kind of hitch to get. If towing on its own wheels stick with III since the truck will carry its own weight.
The drop depend on the trailer and its wheel size.

Re: What class hitch?

Go with class IV just so you have the option to tow more if you ever need it. You may as well since the truck is designed to tow up to class IV. BTW, that Tacoma is badass!

I bought a Reese Class III. It has a capacity of 7500 lbs and a 2.5 inch drop. I went to Auto Zone and looked in the Reese catalog, which had the requirements for my Titan. Also, you might want to check out: http://www.reese-hitches.com/

Re: What class hitch?

The drop is determined by the height diffference of the truck and trailer.
I own two trailers and need two different draw bars so that each trailer rides level. It's a matter of safety so I shelled out the money for the extra bar.
What you'll need will be determined after you measure both your truck, and your trailer.
