Towing Report - Deavers and Fox Coilovers w/ Total Chaos Arms
Well, I pulled my 8000 lb trailer home from storage last night, the first time towing with the Total Chaos arms and Deaver springs. The Deavers performed great! The ride is really smooth, but they still hold up the rear really well. I went through a couple shopping centers, rolling over several speed bumps along the way, and they were great. There was no bottoming, and the rear never felt "mushy". I was afraid they would be too soft, and allow bottoming (my trailer has about 900 lb tongue weight), but its just not the case. It really feels like all components of the suspension are working in unison. Everything cycles smoothly, and it feels like its making use of all its travel without bottoming. I likey!
On the freeway things were as smooth as can be, but I only went across the new sections of the 210 from Upland to Fontana (about 15 miles). What I need to do is take the combo across the 10-fwy in the LA area. Talk about sh!tty roads!
Anyway, those of you wanting the Deavers, but are worried they are no good for towing, go ahead and pickup a set. You won't be disappointed.

Did you notice any improvement in ride quality on daily driving and can you describe it?
THX in advance...
Me want some Deavers...
Oh yeah, I have noticed. No longer do I slow down for a bump...of any kind. There are a few deep gutters around my office that I like to hit at 50 mph now, whereas befor I'd slow a little over them. I've noticed that all the suspension components I have added to the truck love to get a workout. They are at their best when being pushed to their limits. Sounds kinda gay, I know, but thats been my experience. Around town, every-day type of driving is great. They are definately smoother than the stockers, but on smooth roads the ride is only marginally better. As soon as you hit a pothole, or some rough roads the difference in ride is like night and day.

hey, if you need help in testing out the new suspension setup, come on over and drop your truck off at my house(with trailer and all). I can drive it from Ontario to Orange from Mon. to Fri. and give you a review on it.

Re: Towing Report - Deavers and Fox Coilovers w/ Total Chaos Arms
I think that helps me decide on the deavers for the rear. These dang trucks sag alot with very little weight. I haul horse feed and a small trailer and the back looks like it is going to drag the ground. I think the deavers are a much cheaper alternative to the air lift that I was also considering.
Re: Towing Report - Deavers and Fox Coilovers w/ Total Chaos Arms
The coilovers are expensive, so there better be a huge improvement in ride quality both on and off-road. And I assure you that they do what they are promised to do. I havent had one customer think the on and off-road improvemnt wasnt worth it.

PRG, in your opinion do the Fox coilovers or DR's ride better all around?

i was wondering the same also. and how much lift is ptgracia's coilovers dialed to? what is the tallest can they be dialed to without compromising downtravel and jeopardizing any suspension wear? is it only from dialing or is a different shock bucket adapter used?
i guess what i'm asking, can one get 5" inches up front and still have a good ride on and offroad?
thanks

DaFridge,
I don't think you'll be able to get 5" and like the way it rides. I'd say I have an honest 4" lift dialed in and for my tastes its maxed out. I suppose I could add another inch but the tradeoff will make it not worth it. No other parts than the coilovers and control arms are required.
